they are social distancing. only one anchor in studio, the other anchor in the newsroom, and weather is done at the weather center.

    Correct....

CBS3 Philly this morning. Jim Donovan at the Anchor Desk.  Janelle Burrell at Newsroom. (Someone correct me on this please). I'm watching CBSN Philly.

Looks like the Broadcasting Center is open again. Maurice did the news from the CBSN NY set this evening.

Not necessarily.. CBSN NY via CBSN Boston today.. Day 5.

  3. Last night Kristine Johnson did the 6:30 and 11PM News from CBSN NY Studio and Marcia Kramer did a live shot in front of CBS Broadcasting Center.

UPDATE: CBSN New York via CBSN Boston this morning.. Day 5..

Curious as to why, maybe WJZ or WBZ isn't taking over WCBS's news broadcasts they are closer to New York.   Is it because KCBS is a bigger news operation?

Also, take into account that both  WJZ and WBZ broadcast news the same time as WCBS TV.. KCBS is a logical choice only b/c of the time difference.

The. issue is studio space and timing.  KYW, WJZ, WBZ, WBBM etc. all broadcast news at the same time as WCBS.  It made more sense to move it to KCBS.  KCBS probably has more network capabilities too,  so all the throws to local reporters in the fields, weather etc. were seamless.  It's no different than if  the CBS Evening News originated from LA.  The systems probably are in place.  Although many groan about the standardized look of many CBS and NBC O&O's, to the casual viewer you would not have known that the broadcast originated in LA.   NBC has other options - in the past they have used CNBC's HQ in Englewood Cliffs, or Telemundo 47 in Fort Lee when 30 Rock has had an issue that prevented the use of the studio.  They also have SNY as an option too as NBCSports is a part owner.  CBS does not have those options as they are clustered on W57th street.

I keep forgetting that 52nd and 6th is only for WCBS Newsradio 880.

I thought at one time or another there was some actual studio space in that building.

You make a good point with the rest of the East Coast O&O's. Yes, LA is the perfect choice. I'd rather them than Boston to produce the CBSN programming. However, from a viewer's perspective its nice watching CBSN Boston during the day and the KCBS produced WCBS newscasts. Just only wished WCBS had more options in regards to addition contingency plans within New York City.

  6. I'm a bit surprised that KYW hasn't help out it's neighbors down the turnpike meanwhile WBZ and KCBS are doing a great job with the coverage.

Very interesting watching the CBSN Boston most of the day yesterday in NYC.

Day 2- CBSN New York via CBSN Boston..

NBC News and MSNBC are asking employees in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to work remotely or stagger working hours is they are able to do so starting on Monday.

“These efforts will help reduce over-crowding on public transportation and do our part to reduce potential coronavirus exposures,” NBC News president Noah Oppenheim and MSNBC president Phil Griffin wrote to employees.

They wrote that because many employees have to work on site because of production needs, “the vast majority of people who work for NBC News shows, MSNBC and NBC News NOW will continue to come to work in the building. Some show teams will experiment with staggered schedules. We will encourage working from home where possible and have already been preparing for that. We do have teams who can work remotely with limited operational impact, for example certain Digital teams and functional teams.”

    Just great....   555 being quarantined.

Is the CBSN Studio also on 57th Street across from the main or 6th Ave?

Yeah, well Rob was a good class act anchor. Sad that he didn't spend as much time there as some of the other seasoned veterans but i'm sure he can always return in the future if there is a fit for him. WABC has gone to hire reporters and anchors whom left only to return again. I do not think he was forced out. Again we don't know the full story but to me someone that is forced out wouldn't write such a beautifully written monologue such as that on Instagram. I feel like he left voluntarily. Aside from WABC Rob has been in the business for a while so maybe he feels like a change in career is good for him. I could also see Rob doing a talk show he just has that kind of personality for that. Wouldn't be suprised if we stumbled on him again on some sort of talk or radio show. Good luck to Rob and his wife!

This statement.. I agree Rob wasn't forced out at all. Parenting is tough, but the rewards are marvelous and that's something that Rob wanted to focus on.  Rob has been in the business for 10+ in the NYC area most with ABC News. There was no bitterness on that statement yesterday.

I knew it.  When he was scheduled to come back Feb. 1st and didn't I knew something was up.  I bet he was forced out.  When Mike came on the scene he is their new golden boy.  Ken Rosato better watch out. I think Mike will replace him in a couple of years if not sooner.  I know they are grooming Candace, maybe for future weekends with Michele.

    Ken won't get replaced...

Marza is in his own lane..

Candace-  excellent reporter. However, not fit for the anchors chair..

If it was non-amicable, it would've been immediately, not April 10.

Also, Michelle has already acknowledged it, so I doubt it.

While I have problems with Disney as a company, I don't think your conspiracy theory holds water. The only mistake lately was Camille Edwards and the damage she did.

    Agreed.

I'm sorry if I'm late on this but... is WCAU's new 7:00 p.m. newscast permanent? I ask because it was added as a result of Impeachment coverage being spilled over to WCAU's 4, 5 and 6PM newscasts but I'm looking at listings and it shows its a permanent part of the schedule?

For right now it looks permanent for WCAU..  WNBC and WTVJ are still doing Access Hollywood at 7.  WRC still has their 1 hour of news at 6 for nightly news at 7.

CAU has Access Hollywood at 7:30.

WRC has Access Hollywood also at 7:30.

Ch Ch Changes? Testing things out? Don't want to enter speculation territory, but is it a possibility?

No.. Shirleen has been sick most of last week as others eluded. No changes at this time..

You are not going to change the #1 morning news cast with Ken & Shirleen  versus the fierce competition down the dial with WNBC.

It's even weirder when you consider they're still airing the CBS Evening News (or half of it anyway) at 6.30PM - and, I assume, the CBS TOH updates in the overnight. Wonder if that contract has to fully expire before we see the fruits of this agreement. And doesn't (Viacom)CBS -- or the shareholders of -- own almost 3/4ths of Entercom still?

DC's got you covered since WRC mets give the forecast on WTOP. I think any arrangement in NYC would be...a stretch. Accuweather's still going strong on WCBS and WINS - with Craig Allen and the occasional CBS 2 talent from time to time on 880.

Yes, that is correct.  Very good point @TSSZNews

KYW had been simulcasting EN even after the spinoff. IIRC part of the terms of the spinoff were, CBS was to maintain their partnerships with the radio stations for a year and then they were free to do whatever they want. The Philly cluster partnering with NBC 10 is just the first shoe to drop.

That said there's nothing stopping other markets from just reupping with the CBS O&O they were previously aligned with. I think it's safe to say Entercom Philly couldn't wait to be free of CBS3 and the mess they're currently in.

That totally makes sense..  At least for Philly, it broadens the coverage base.

I want to see which other markets will do what Philly is doing.

One thing is for sure I don't expect NYC or Wash DC to do this just yet.

However, if it works in Philly, than I could see the other NBC O&O's jumping on the philly bandwagon with Entercom.

Yup. I had a feeling something like this would happen after CBS spun the radio group off. I wonder if KYW will simulcast Nightly News now or stay local at 6:30.

My guess is local at 6:30.. Hold up. KYW radio doesn't do CBS Evening News?

I know WCBS Radio which is also under the Entercom radio network does CBS Evening news with an extended version at 7PM.

Wow this is big, NBC 10 is partnering with the Entercom Radio cluster in Philly provide weather and share news and traffic.

Get prepared to hear First Alert Weather forecasts and Traffic reports on the Entercom stations, KYW NewsRadio stories on NBC 10.

Looks good for the Philadelphia metro area..

Gayle is getting a lot of backlash. for this   https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2020/02/05/kobe-bryant-gayle-king-sparks-outrage-questions-rape-charge/4672566002/

    My question is...

Why didn't Gayle  (and everyone in the Media) question Bill Cosby In 2012 and 2013 and before and bring up prior accusations against him? Cosby allegations of rape and sexual assault had been well known and documented for many years before it exploded in 2014. Remember he settled a civil lawsuit with 11 women in 2006. There was also the women who accuse him of sexual assault in 2000. Why wasn't anyone talking about that until it resurfaced in 2014 (and 50 more women came forward to accuse him) and then acted shocked like they had just heard it for the first time?

My rule of life.. Don't speak ill will about the dead.  Although Gayle has received so much flak about the interview. Overall, she apologized and realized there were mistakes associated with this interview. CBS wanted those particular clips thinking it would garner ratings but instead ignited a heated conversation with regards to the rape allegations and such. It's very disappointing that Lisa Leslie was put in a uncomfortable position to question her friendship with Kobe thus them playing in respective LA franchises within the NBA & WNBA organizations.
