Sort of wondering if Craig Allen gave up the weekend gig on PIX 11.  He is getting no younger and he already works M-F on WCBS Radio, albeit from his home.

Your guess is my guess if Craig Allen decided to hang it up! I thought he was in studio on 52nd and 6th during the week. Thanks for the confirmation.

The Tribune Media website has announced that Stacy-Ann Gooden will be joining PIX11 News as a weekend Meteorologist on the evening newscasts.

Is she on freelance or permanent?  What does this mean for Joe Cioffi, and the other freelancers?  The only person I know that's permanent is Craig Allen.

Yes she was. Chris Wragge subbed for Andrea Grymes on Saturday morning.

Lonnie Quinn subbed for Vanessa Murdok Saturday night.

Jessica Layton subbed for Jessica Moore on the weekend evening newscasts.

Copy that Iceman.. Usually, Kristine doesn't work weekends unless in this situation. While we're at this. I haven't seen Kristine or Maurice do early PM's at CBSN. Although Dana does the 6PM newscast. I believe she does CBSN I think 2 days out of the week at 1PM.

Of all the people who have come and gone from the show, I can't believe Al Roker has managed to somehow survive it all. To put it into perspective, he was named weatherman when Bryant and Katie were anchoring the show and that was more than 20 years ago.

... and the ending of the famed Live at 5 with Sue, Matt, Len and Al.

I guess that also says that when you are good in your craft that no one can't stop you. Al has gracefully excelled in his craft.

As expected that Kerry Drew is the new anchor at GDW.  Get ready for new Good Day Wake up bus ads in New York City coming soon.

Hopefully Bianca fits in well with GDWU. As expected WNYW had to go outside instead of keeping it in house.  Let's see what the future holds.

  7. Ryan Baker of WBBM radio is reportedly making the switch over to TV.  Although I'm not savvy when it comes to television out in the mid-west. However, he's a tenured sports anchor of WBBM radio with well over 16 years of experience and now making the switch to morning news. Congrats to Ryan and much continued success. It also appears that CBS Chicago morning news is getting a revamp as of 9/30/19 when Ryan Baker is being joined by Erin Kennedy. Also, there is a breaking news anchor (Not too sure how many other CBS O&O's have Breaking News anchors) and traffic.

They should add Joe to GD Wake Up to fill one of the vacated spots. I think it’d be nice to have Audrey do weather on GDWU and do feature reports on the main GDNY. Is Audrey holding on to weekend evenings? If so, how will she manage the 7 day schedule? Or could this be where Bill Evans lands?!

Let's stop with the Bill Evans conspiracy theories please!  Nothing against Bill who has done NYC Weather since '86 along with Sam Champion.

However, he's mostly focusing on his radio show out east- Sag Harbor to be exact. Fox is NOT going to offer Bill a big generous deal like Ernie Anastos way back in the day.. Those big deals are over.

As for the other 2 points: Audrey in the morning & Mid-day does sound like a good feel. Gives Mike Woods a break until the 7AM hour of GDNY. I'm not too solid on Joe as of yet to get one of the vacated positions. Right now to me Kerry Drew is a clear shoe-in for the GDWU. At this point it's about pairings.

  9. Word on the street is that Tony Perkins- Formerly of Good Morning America and WTTG- Washington DC is returning back to the DC market.. Something tells me he may take a trip over to WRC. Currently he's working with Donnie Simpson at Radio one-DC in a production capacity.

From the AJC: WGCL names Shon Gables permanent evening anchor effectively replacing Sharon Reed. The station currently has a second evening position open since Thomas Roberts left.

Happy that she's doing well in Atlanta. Remembered her when she worked at WCBSTV & CBS News in New York. Great journalist. Just too bad that WCBS couldn't keep her. For those that may not know. She worked at WCBSTV from 2003-2006 and the station did another fire sale and got rid of most of that staff. Don't ask me who's left from 2006 staff.

I think it is just promoting that their full morning team were born and bred in the New York or New Jersey.  The approach has been tried before elsewhere until a new hire from outside is brought in.

I mean all the other morning teams have at least 1 anchor born and bred in New York, New Jersey & Lower Connecticut... So this really doesn't say much.. What TINY needs to do is focus to getting to #1 cus right now WABC and WPIX to me (IMO) are 1 and 2 respectively, and TINY is #3.

What I meant was, does any other station get rid of their "Traffic & Weather" branding then bring it back as CBS2 does?

    10 hours ago, RealNews18 said:

I think the only stations that do the traffic/weather branding are 2,4 and 7.. WNBC does “weather and traffic on the 4s..” and WABC does “7minutes”/ “Weather&Heather”.. the rest do weather and traffic but they don’t really have a name for it

WNBC went away with the weather and traffic on the 4's right before Chris Cimino got out the door. From what I notice when I watch TINY uninterrupted News first 10 minutes than weather & traffic..  The only station that has really kept their branding is WABC.

It’ll be interesting to see who anchors.. I would think probably Lori and Rosanna but then again you never know with FOX5.

I highly doubt it would be both of them.  Perhaps Kerry Drew & Raegan Medgie or Antawn Lewis & Jessica Formoso.

However, I hope they scout for new talent for the noon newscast.  Reporters and anchors since as of late the NYC O&O FIRM has been a revolving door.

  14. 20 hours ago, IceManNYR said:

I wonder if the change was in part due to complaints from viewers about the reduction of traffic reports?

Few weeks ago Chris Wragge posted to his IG story a video that panned from him to Alex with text  "For all those asking where the traffic reports are".

By Friday traffic reports were deemed not important.  Alex was off and they only did "Weather On The 2s".

At this point I feel CBS2 this morning needs a big shake up. I'm not 100% what their stats look like but when you are competing with WABC, WNBC I just feel that CBS2 has lost it's touch in the morning. CBSN New York is a lot better than the morning news (IMO).

  15. Took a quick trip to Boston this weekend and noticed a few things while at my stay in Beantown.

Noticed that the graphics at NBC Boston are similarly different to WNBC & WRC (DC)  However, graphics are pretty much in line with the other O&O's.

and the same can be said with WBZ with their graphics and title, a bit bigger than WCBS TV.

Don't be surprised if it goes a year before they finally get GDWUP replacements.

Oh, trust me I wouldn't be surprised if it takes that long.

8/22: Kerry Drew anchoring again solo.

Any new rumblings on what may happen with Good Day Wake Up?

    Any chance of Teresa/Antwan reuniting?

    Kerry Drew/Robert Moses???

Just wondering if any "insiders" have any scoop! It's been a couple weeks, so I fee like conversations may start happening.

    1) Neither Antwan/Teresa are coming back to mornings.

    2) WNYW is actively looking for a new anchor(s) to do GDWUP

    3) This search will take a while. It may go into months. So stay tuned.

I think Cablevision->Optimum->Altice does in fact carry NY1 in NYC, the reason being that Spectrum and Optimum territories do NOT overlap, so there's no disincentive for Spectrum to license it out. Not sure about RCN though.

    That is correct..

Spectrum: Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island. Parts of Brooklyn: Downtown, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Gravesend, and parts of Coney Island.

Cablevision/Optimum: Central Brooklyn, and all of The Bronx.

RCN: Manhattan only. Uncertain about outside of Manhattan.

Damm.. No Michelle Beale, Chauncey, Jalen or Paul.  Not to take away the spotlight from Rachel Nichols and Maria Taylor. However, both ladies are excellent in sideline reporting. But in studio I'm not 100% solid on that.

In this interview, Matt Brickman officially confirms that he will be the weekend evening meteorologist at WNBC. I’m not sure this was officially reported anywhere else before now.

You might be on point with this. Not even FTV has reported this portion yet. FTV has only reported that he will be going to WNBC. However, no official start date to be announced. As others eluded that it is a mid-September start date. However, stay tuned.

News12 has been available to Charter and Comcast for many years.  NY1 has been on Optimum for over a year now.  The only competition the Dolans did not allow to carry News12 was Verizon (and of course satellite providers).  Altice clearly has a different objective if our speculation is correct.  Makes sense.

NY1 was also available on Cablevision systems- BK/BX during the mid-90's and early 2000's until they discontinued it. Can't remember the year when Cablevision disbanded NY1.

Also, I smell a News 12 Westchester-Hudson Valley on Verizon systems to keep up with the current climate of hyper-local news.

Just wondering what's going to happen out in Long Island since Fios Channel 1 is in New York City, Long Island, and I can't see News 12 Long Island being on Verizon.
