  1. One question I have about her that I haven't found a clear answer to: What years did she work at WIXT?
  2. WWSB in Sarasota uses that
  3. Not sure if this video has been posted yet anywhere on TVNT, but thought I'd get this on here. This is the announcement as made on WFSB's air earlier this evening. Very sad.
  4. Coincidentally, earlier today, I made a spoof of the new Scripps gfx. I wasn't planning on posting it on TVNT, but now I can't help myself. Enjoy!
  5. Any chance Studio 57 gets renovated to bring the look more in line with the current DC look? I'd imagine that they would want the studio to look comparable in design in case they the show gets anchored from NY from time to time (like when a guest anchor is hosting or major coverage from NY).
  6. As far as WATN goes, it's not really like getting bought by Tegna could make things much worse. But stations like KFSM have a lot to lose by being under Tegna ownership. For example, KFSM has been a reliable news station for years in NW Arkansas. Now, Tegna might change that. And as for WNEP, Tegna would be incredibly foolish if they dumped MCTYW as their theme. The viewers will not be happy if they did, and I wouldn't blame them. It's a great theme and a great asset to the station. At the least, I'd expect the station to get standardized with graphics. We'll see what Tegna does about the music, but I'm not holding my breath much that Tegna makes the wise call
  7. After they left Studio 47 in 2016, they revamped that newsroom. I don't know for sure if the Studio 47 space was "absorbed" into the remodeled newsroom, but the pictures released at the time the remodel was unveiled didn't show any signs of the studio still being there. I would be curious to see if anyone has better knowledge on this matter. All of that to say: Besides the CBSN setup, Studio 57 (CBSTM set) has become the primary place for CBS News network broadcasts when originating from NY.
  8. I wonder how permanent that arrangement will be. I guess having much of the CBSEN staff in NY could work in the short-term, but I imagine that has to be incredibly inefficient. Collaborating via phone calls and video conferences only work to a certain extent. I just hope none of the rank-and-file employees lose their jobs. Agreed. I'll be surprised if the DC version of CBSEN lasts more than a couple or few years.
  9. Still amazed they didn't get a larger studio for CBS Evening News. The studio is nice enough but they should have gone with something bigger for a move as monumental and historic as this. To me, the studio is a downgrade from their CBSTM studio in NYC.
  10. Never have understood why they thought making it a 30 minute newscast was a good idea. It should've been an hour long this whole time. Glad to see it back to one hour though.
  11. Very interesting. I wonder if they have spanish subtitles (or spanish closed-caption) on the simulcast.
  12. And I would say that is highly likely. Especially true for WGHP, imo.
  13. But since WFMY already produces the 7am hour (which ends after tomorrow), I don't see why they couldn't opt out of programing on one of those sub-channels and carry it as an extension of the morning show. I would think these discussions have already happened (or are taking place) behind closed doors at WFMY/Tegna. So I'm thinking this is not likely to happen, but it would make sense to me to keep the hour via a subchannel.
  14. I checked Wikipedia and it turns out that WFMY has actually 3 sub-channels: Justice Network, WeatherNation TV, and Quest. Probably not likely, but I wonder if WFMY could consider running the 7am hour on one of those channels. At least WFMY wouldn't lose that hour of morning news that has really become important TV history, certainly for that market.
  15. I see it as a sign CBS is trying very hard to rescue their ratings on their network newscasts, as they remain a distant #3 for both CBS This Morning and CBS Evening News, and getting much worse with new hosts and leadership...if they are making demands like that in regards to WFMY. Let's hope KOTV doesn't also get forced into dropping their 7am newscast on their main signal (KOTV).
  16. They should've stayed with Jeff Glor. In fact, I would put him back as evening news anchor, in about 2 seconds, if I was in charge. He at least tried to appear impartial while having genuine care for those he reported about. He was a refreshing throwback to Peter Jennings and it's a shame they dumped him. The network should consider itself fortunate he didn't go to a different news organization. It was a class act the way he signed off...not about him, but those who's faces rarely make it to TV.
  17. That's alright if other countries want to trend a certain way with TV graphics. Other countries' media outlets have to make decisions that work for themselves. Trends occur differently in each country--some more than others. But what works in France or Germany may not always work in America, and vice versa. We now know when CBS Evening News will make that move to D.C. officially. It will be the first week of December. https://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/cbs-evening-news-to-air-from-d-c-starting-early-december
  18. My personal opinion is that graphics design peaked about when HD become commonplace on local stations around America. Now, it's quickly becoming an overload of blandness and uninspired hoopla. And specifically in regards to ABC, I think WNT has decent graphics. It strongly reminds me of the early to mid 2000s when Peter Jennings was still anchoring. But their L3s aren't very impressive, I will say.
  19. So apparently they are making changes to management at Tegna's WCNC. Their general manager, Deborah Collura, is leaving at the end of the year. Story from FTV Live: https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2019/11/26/tegna-to-make-a-change-at-the-top-in-charlotte
  20. I wonder why Sarkes Tarzian stations don't use Gray gfx on their stations. (Not Nexstar related, but my curiosity has me wanting to ask that.)
  21. Very interesting. I guess WHNT could be a good candidate for Nexstar to dispatch for major breaking news in Chattanooga because of their relatively close proximity to Chattanooga, if being in a different state & time zone isn't a factor. I would just add this that I-75 makes Knoxville and Chattanooga very accessible to each other (except for the fact there is the risk of really bad fog at times on the roadway)...so I can see WATE being sent for coverage
  22. I'm just guessing, but I suppose WATE would be the one. Geographically speaking, it would make more sense if you're comparing Chattanooga to the nearest Nexstar station. But WKRN could certainly pick up the story as well. Kind of surprised Nexstar hasn't bought any station in Chattanooga, though. It would make sense from their point of view.

    In Memoriam

It's sad enough when one broadcasting legend passes, but to have two in a short time...That's even sadder.
  24. That happens a lot with various stations. For instance, when I'm visiting Knoxville, I'll watch WATE's newscasts. I notice a lot of collaboration on reports between them and WKRN--by that, I mean they'll carry a report originally for WKRN, if it's of any interest to Knoxville or the state at large. I would expect that with other Nexstar stations as well. Pretty soon my home market will have a Nexstar station...WJZY. Given that we are a NFL market, I would expect them to share their reports with other Nexstar stations, and vice versa.
  25. If anything KFOR will benefit from Nexstar's vast resources of stations they own. At big events (like the Super Bowl), they have a reporter (maybe multiple reporters) go to the event and have them file reports with various Nexstar stations. They'll have many mic flags that they use in reports going to each Nexstar station. So I think KFOR will see a combination of being able to use their reporters for long-distance reports that is specific to Oklahoma, and other cases where KFOR will have a reporter (perhaps from a different station) file a report but use KFOR's mic flag. I think KFOR will be okay with Nexstar. Let's be grateful that they didn't go to Tegna.
