  1. Huge improvement! Less "PowerPoint-y" and looks like it fits a major market much better than the previous graphics.
  2. Also, WCCO doesn't seem to have any issues breaking in with weather programming as needed- and they don't have a second channel to throw CBS to either...
  3. Wondering how TPIR will commemorate this... They've moved from "The Bob Barker Studio", does the new studio get dubbed the same? Do they go the "Bob Barker Stage" route like Jeopardy did? I feel like Fremantle/CBS can't not do something here...
  4. As for how local affiliates cover it, many should be able to take playbooks/graphics from sister stations (KNBC & KNSD can take from WTVJ, KFMB can take from WJXX and WTSP, etc.) Granted the anchors, reporters, and mets in CA, for instance, are probably about as comfortable with covering a hurricane as their FL counterparts are with covering an earthquake, but most stations have the "how to cover a hurricane" playbook at their disposal.
  5. WCCO unveiled their Minnesota State Fair plans and they still won't give CBS News Minnesota hardly any mention. It's all WCCO and "Next Weather" this year. Also... PlinCCO... Not as clever as when viewers could dunk the anchors, but not bad. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/state-fair/
  6. Hutch Johnson is out as Chief Met at KVLY/Fargo after 16 years. All comes after Gray posted for his job Apperantly much to his surprise. Lots of rumor locally about what really happened Edit: The job is still posted on Gray's website. Weird they're getting rid of the (arguably) most recognizable face and name the station has with seemingly no replacement plan...
  7. Rock Center with Brian Williams Lester Holt!
  8. https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/pioneering-former-wnbc-meteorologist-dr-frank-field-dies-at-100/4471040/
  9. Who says they don't slowly integrate them more over time?
  10. All he said was "Join us Monday when our studio will look a little different". I don't think there has been anything thus far to suggest a move from 1A
  11. Nightly did a retrospective of the last 75 years- kind of interesting how much they featured Brian given his unceremonious exit from the anchor chair (it feels like Today has snubbed former hosts for less). Lester ended the broadcast hinting at Mondays changes before stepping off and showing an empty Studio 1A with the old look
  12. Apologies if someone has noticed this move already, but waking up in Wisconsin this morning and noticed that Nexstar is relating NewsNation on their local Fox station in the mornings… local bug (bottom right) and all. Watching a bit last night and their 9pm show is WEAU’s (Gray) 10pm show/set/anchors/reporters with Nexstar’s graphics. Interesting moves?
  13. KTTC (Rochester, MN) is getting ready for Gray One.
  14. Ami late to the game on this? Or did the ABC logo bug just get smaller?
  15. Bigger, marginally. Primary season will be in full-swing and Nexstar will dump money and affiliate's resources into it just to move the needle a little (and get that beautiful political ad money)
  16. Matte look, eliminated the bevel effect. Nice modifications to give some more cohesiveness to GrayOne. Note- I don't believe that is the new and improved peacock.
  17. Missing from the new look- a severe weather ticker, apparently.
  18. So let's look at this from the management/money POV (not that that is the correct way, but I like being devil's advocate)- Don't fix what ain't broken. Money is a rare, mystical thing in broadcasting (preaching to the choir, I know...) But the other top O&O ('CCO) has used the same set for over a decade. With the branding and graphics change, the set got some minor updates to cover up the old logo (new hockey glass) but otherwise, they continue to use a set that has aged incredibly well even though it does not entirely match the new look and feel of the station (example: all the dark blue and copper looks a little out of place now). As long as the ratings remain, and the billing is there, CBS will pour CapEx money where they feel it's needed more- like building an entire operation in Detroit, blowing up LA, etc.)
  19. And on '07, Letterman and Ferguson were able to return sooner than the rest because World Wide Pants (Letterman's production company) owned the shows- not the networks and were able to create their own temporary agreement with the writers (Guessing Letterman himself must have funded that?). Not sure if any of the late night shows can pull that now with their respective networks owning production rights?
  20. It's news. It's about TV. It's relevant. You're fine! We were just discussing the Late Late Show ending over the weekend after all...
  21. Corden aside, didn't Ferguson have a clause in his contract to be first in line to replace Letterman? I think the payout was upwards of $10 Million when CBS went with Colbert.
  22. I gave up on all of them after everyone monologues became nothing but political commentaries; but after his part in screwing over Conan (and the shady way he got Tonight in the first place) forget Leno.
  23. Option C... Both. WTVG and WTOL are certainly taking their opportunity here as well...
  24. Not saying I was correct with this guess- It was more of a perfect storm with scheduling (Wild were on Bally North, Timberwolves on Bally North Extra) but the Twins broadcast was shown on "Fox9+" last night (KMSP 9.2)- Bally talent/graphics/production with a Fox9+ watermark in the upper right corner of the screen. Interesting move given Sinclair owns WUCW-TV in the market (and has in the past shown Bally overlaps on that channel...)
  25. I'm not saying that I don't buy that they're using a call letter box, but for reference the last time "WBBM" was a part of Channel 2's branding was 1997. Does that negate any chance of them going back that direction? Not at All- Much like the KCBS situation with the ratings, nothing can really be off the table in Chicago. What is interesting is that after 25 years, going back to calls when they happen to be the same calls as a top-rated radio station in the market who is no longer co-owned...
