  1. Perhaps CBS realizes that the majority of the news audience they have watch streaming instead of broadcast, and in turn are turning to their streaming anchors to be the new face of the division? Can we also hypothesize that DuBois and Dickerson together are probably still less expensive than O'Donnell salary-wise, and CBS is doing it on the cheap realizing no matter what, they are likely to stay in 3rd place?

Per The Hollywood Reporter: "On NBC, while viewers will see Rockefeller Plaza behind the anchors, the studio is actually placed right in the newsroom, with Tom Llamas’ big board just steps away (like on MSNBC, Lester Holt and Savannah Guthrie will be able to see what he is looking at), and the newsroom directly adjacent to the set."

You know the political ad buying is getting hot in Wisconsin when ads for their US Senate and State Assembly Races are airing in Minneapolis for the sliver of Wisconsin counties that are a part of the market. Kind of odd that Gray is only doing it with WBAY when they have stations that cover most of Wisconsin (WMTV, WEAU, WSAW, KBJR). So much more opportunity to grab those political ad dollars serve and inform the community.
  6. Not gonna lie- as a kid I loved tuning into TWC for any type of severe weather coverage. Today, it's just too easy to channel surf just about any local station or market where the mets and reporters are just as, if not more, knowledgeable as TWC. Used NewsOn last night to flip between three different markets (WESH, WFTS, WINK) like they were my locals.

Sharing because I think it's interesting- Most of the former CBS Radio stations have severed ties with their TV O&O Counterparts (KYW-AM, for example, partners with NBC's WCAU now), but WCCO-TV and Radio have always remained somewhat close. The latest evidence of that- WCCO-TV Chief Met Chris Shaffer is taking over weather duties at WCCO Radio in November as Paul Douglas (who Shaffer succeeded at WCCO-TV as well) called it quits earlier this year. https://www.audacy.com/wccoradio/news/local/meteorologist-chris-shaffer-new-part-of-wcco-radio-family
  9. Looking at their website, they appear to be relaying WESH. That said, as a weather nerd watching way up north, WESH has been doing a tremendous job so far (and what I am currently streaming in my office)- WFTV and WKMG have also been solid.
  10. I'm kind of surprised that with the new graphics that there wasn't a plan for a combined logo. I get that Hearst doesn't do the "combined" branding (ex: like Gray does with Dakota News Now, Valley News Live, etc)- but something where for emergency coverage like a hurricane showed the NBC2 and ABC7 logos side by side? Is it because viewers in the area already subliminally know the two are co-owned (or more likely don't care when a Cat 5 is headed their way?)

  13. Here's to hoping some consistency with the First Alert logo develops soon. It appears as though the variants existed with their prior package as well.
  14. A competent candidate should be prepared for fallacies and be prepared to fact check their opponent themselves from the lectern with their rebuttal time. But that's just my PoliSci degree talking. Personally, not having the mics muted makes for a more entertaining debate (but again, that's the PoliSci talking. For the average viewer, yes- mute the mics).
  15. Honestly not a terrible idea given he's suddenly on the market. Even elevating Craig to co-host and bringing Glor in as News/Headline anchor wouldn't be terrible given he has the "breakfast show" experience with CTM Saturday, and "hard news" experience with Evening News. Also comes with at least *some* name recognition.

  17. Not a new package, but WDIO/Duluth has updated their graphics... Simplifying and eliminating some of the animations from their previous Linear Drift open and adding blue/teal to their red/white/black scheme. The only things that gets me is that logo bug in the corner... Would moving the logo up and putting a standard time/temp under it be a better use of the space? Or are they recognizing that people can see the time on their phones?
  18. Just saw pics of the new Wheel of Fortune set on my Twitter feed... I get with having your first new host in decades, you usually want to go with a redesign, but this just feels devoid, cold, and cheap.
  19. She is also working with what CBS is allowing her to do... budgeting, creativity, and otherwise. I read somewhere that she wanted to revert to the 2008 theme, for example, which suggests that she believes in breaking the mandate to try and make some headway at WBBM, which we here know is unlikely at best to happen. Also, putting her in charge of fixing the mess in Detroit only detracts from the focus of working on Chicago.
  20. KCCW makes things tricky/interesting for areas in central and northern MN- Where I grew up, for example, Cable companies carried KCCW and (then) KDLH for CBS. Walker was geographically closer to us, but we were in the Duluth DMA. Unscientific claim, but in parts of MN where both KCCW and KBJR (or KVLY in select Western parts of KCCW's range), I'd bet good money that more people turn to the KCCW feed (hence that whole "Minnesota's Most Watched" claim for all those years).
  21. This has happened before for Fox stations in cities where the DNC is hosted. It's not because of the normal people attending the convention. It's because of the protesters who don't understand the difference between Fox Local and FNC Prime. More likely that WFLD's reporting is being used by other O&O's and affiliates. KMSP has their own reporter there covering Walz and they have their Fox 9 mic flag on.

  23. Just something I noticed this morning on WCCO's page- a Co-branded "Day of Service" with Xcel Energy... With the old "4" logo? (Which is odd because even with that logo, WCCO almost always placed the call letters underneath it) Oversight on someone's part?

I'm sure it happens more and more every election by every party, but WDAY-AM (Fargo) is accusing the Harris Campaign of using the station's URL and fabricating headlines (per The Forum) in Google Ads. What's interesting to me is all of this clears Google's ad policies. Not uncommon for campaigns to use media clips, but is something like this becoming common across the board? WDAY Radio Statement Headline 1 In Question Headline 2 In Question Disclosure- WDAY-AM and The Forum are co-owned by Forum Communications, although WDAY-AM is operated by Flag Family Media.

  25. Copying and pasting some of the release since Forum has a paywall. First Forum has dealt with NBC in decades since swapping for ABC in Fargo. Forum Communications Company is expanding once again in South Dakota. The acquisition will enhance Forum Communications’ ability to serve residents throughout South Dakota and to be a trusted news source for the state, said Josh Rohrer, vice president of broadcasting for Forum Communications. “Combining the excellence of KNBN’s existing local news with the experience and reputation of Forum Communications will help to create a new home for the very best in local news, weather and sports in South Dakota,” Rohrer said. KNBN is the only independently-owned TV network affiliate in South Dakota. That will remain the case, Rohrer said, but this acquisition creates an opportunity for expanded reach and impact. The acquisition includes certain satellite stations delivering KNBN’s signal to the entire Rapid City DMA, according to a Forum Communications press release. Viewers can also expect collaboration with Sioux Falls Live/ KSFL-TV and the Mitchell Republic on stories of statewide importance, Rohrer said. “We have big plans in South Dakota,” said Mary Jo Hotzler, chief content officer for Forum Communications. “Mitchell has long been a news leader in the state and is unmatched when it comes to high school sports coverage. Sioux Falls has quickly become a go-to source for news and sports, especially the (SDSU) Jackrabbits, and we are excited about adding Rapid City. This is just the beginning for us in the state.” The acquisition of KNBN is subject to receipt of regulatory and other approvals.
