They may not need sports related programming on both Saturdays & Sundays every weekend, but I believe it's better to have that than infomercials after network sport's programming. KCBS doesn't have their sports central show consistently either. They have it when they have no other programming & it's better than airing infomercials at that time.
-
Why hasn't the station try to create a local sports show on weekend afternoons regularly? For example, most sports programming from the network ends at 3pm local time. The station usually have infomercials right after sports programming. Instead of that, why not just air sports related programming locally between 3-4pm. Then have their regular programming afterwards. Or they should start their afternoon / evening news early then.
-
If they were going to put sports on cable, why not put it on the cable network it owns or plans to keep like bravo, instead of continuing to make agreements to put it on USA. Or like you suggested, put everything on NBC & peacock.

NBC renewed rights with breeders cup. Additional coverage on USA. I don't understand why they would make additional sports deals & put it on USA when the network will be spun off later this year. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/nbc-breeders-cup-extend-partnership-142651145.html

KCBS is now airing the CBS Evening News at 4pm with Evening News Plus at 4:30pm. This is what's other schedule on zap2it TV listings.
-
The issue that I don't understand is with the sports programming. What will happen with the sports programming that appear on USA, CNBC, & E networks once they officially separate from NBCU? Will NBC move the sports to bravo and / or Peacock? When Comcast made the deal with NBA to show games, they included wnba games to be shown on USA. What was the point of doing that when they were considering spinning off USA with the other networks?

Did anyone find out what the ratings are for the newscasts? I don't know where to find information on that.

This is my opinion of what their anchor lineup should look like Today in LA be the same Midday Report & 3PM Annabelle Sedano 4 & 6pm Carolyn Johnson & Robert Kovacik 5 & 11pm Colleen Williams & Michael Brownlee 7pm Robert Kovacik Weekend mornings & evenings remain the same The station should add a new newscast on the weekends. A new sports show with Mario Solis & Olivia Garvey should be created and air after sports programming on weekends usually at 3pm local & should last about an hour. The station should also create a new subchannel called knbc + airing a combination of news & locally produced programs.
-
The subchannel schedule on TV could be different than that online. In the future, the network will probably have more sporting events that it will air on the main ktla. If there's a news event that needs to be covered during those events, the subchannel would be a great way to do that. At other times, the subchannel could air the locally produced programs like California Cooking, Frank Buckley interviews, LA Unscripted, & etc. They can produce more local programs or import local programs from other nextstar stations. The station doesn't have to be all news like the online version.
-
KTLA + exist online. Would the station consider creating a subchannel for ktla +? If so, a couple of months ago, when TBD channel left 5.4 to go to 11.3, that would have been good time to create ktla + as a subchannel.

Since Comcast is spinning off most of their cable networks, I am assuming any Olympic programming not on NBC will be on peacock. I think they will probably start doing this with 2026 Olympics. -
Colleen anchoring all of the afternoon/ evening newscasts is a bit much. Why are they not rotating anchors between 4-6:30pm? Will this be the permanent lineup or will it change as Carolyn Johnson health improves? I hope this lineup is not permanent, especially for the evening & 11pm newscasts.
-
What are the current anchor lineup at the station for all of their newscasts? Its a bit confusing.
-
I'm surprised. Is he being forced to retire from Nightly News? Reassigned to Dateline. Like Norah O Donnell? She was reassigned to 60 minutes & other projects.
-
I know that his would probably not happen, but in my opinion, I think some of these suggestions would have been the better solution. Comcast should keep USA & possibly Bravo. Merge CNBC & MSNBC - then, change their lineup - Call it NBC News Network (NNN) Program during M-F daytime NNN News Reports, with sub titles including NNN News reports - power lunch segments, closing bell, & so forth Prime time would be NNN News Reports - with Analysis from Rachael Maddow, Lawrence o Donnel, & Chris Hayes, but also include their top conservative analysts as well. Don't have the the analysts host the show, but have your network personalities do that, like Lestor Holt, Tom Llamas. & others. Weekend air sports or other news programs. Use the name of their other channels as brands & stream it on peacock. Scy Fy on Peacock, Oxygen network on Peacock, E on Peacock, & so on. Or take their most popular shows on each network & combine them to be on USA as well as stream them on peacock Then, shut down the other channels jf the channels continue to not be successful, just like they did with Universal Kids. Move programs & events from the golf channel to USA network.
-
If they wanted to air more news, they could easily put it on their localish 7.2 sub channel or create abc7 plus subchannel, & add more news & local programs to that station. It seems they're adding news online to stream at different times during the day. Simulcast it to get more viewers. Ktla should fo the same by adding a subchannel. Kcal already has kcal plus, so if they wanted to, they can add more news to that station.
-
NBC & Peacock could share the rights for Sunday night baseball.
-
Since kcop will now air news in primteime at least on weeknights, will they consider putting news on kcop on weekend mornings as well? It appears the stations want to expand their newscasts.
-
Will another network step in to get this part of the deal from ESPN? NBC, perhaps? Sunday Night Baseball, Football, & Basketball. Sports programming year around.
-
I hope they don't remove Colleen permanently from the 11pm unless she chooses to step down from that newscast. I think the anchor lineup that they're advertising is just temporary.
-
Annabelle was hired to be on the 3 & 5pm newscast last year. Michael was supposed to anchor the 11am & 4pm newscast. Then Carolyn got sick & the station changed their anchor lineup. Robert is still with the station as a fill in anchor. I think the new lineup will be 11a & 3p - Annabelle 4 & 6pm - Robert & Carolyn - when she's able to come back full time 5 & 11pm - Colleen & Michael 7pm - Colleen or rotating anchors
-
I wonder what's next for Ellen? Others have found success fter leaving TV news. Michelle Ruiz left knbc and started her own business.
-
A few months ago, I mentioned that they might consider adding more news, if not on kttv, then kcop. This is the new direction that local stations are taking. If people are tired of watching reruns of old shows or whatever is on TV now, news & sports are the alternatives. Since sports are expensive, local news is the only choice that the programmers and stations have to offer.

Article does not state a start date. When will the newscasts start?
