September 12th, 1994 is also the same day that its former sister station in Kansas City (WDAF-TV) switched to Fox. -

Why does the 6 looks like the Pre-Fox era logo? -
Wait a minute, didn't KOVR have early prime-time plus a 10pm newscast since the mid-1990s?

LET'S GO, WE DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH CONFLICTS ANYMORE, YAY. Also, where would Telemundo go since KCOY-TV gained the CW? -

But no seriously, HOW WOULD THE FCC APPROVE PUTTING THE CW IN A CABLE CHANNEL AND NOT BE THE CW+? It's not a station, it's a cable network. You just can't put the CW programming in, say, NewsNation, and literally expect the stations that carry the CW to be happy with that knowing that's going on. WGN America is gone by now, what's next, put the WGN-TV Chicago feed nationally after September 1st? -

You are correct! Also, having a 10pm newscast since 1989 has greatly helped WSVN in the long run, despite how joked it was in 1988. -

All the other deals the CW and Nexstar made about affiliations of the CW was not because of Paramount. Besides, Paramount is more focused on other stuff. -

Or maybe because WHDH was/is in a duopoly with WLVI and wanted to keep Channel 56 as the CW affiliate? In the Research Triangle in North Carolina, WRAL-TV didn't accept some of stuff that CBS wanted them to do so they agreed with WNCN by default. Same thing goes with WISH-TV and WTTV in Indianapolis. -

Next step on this CW affiliate train, Tuscon and others! I endorse KTTU because... I mean, they have no choice to do so. Grau Television is all focused on Sports in Arizona that they probably won't air the CW in KOLD-TV. For the others, I have no idea. Also, with Paramount this is the least of their worries, I guess they chose now so they can focus on Skydance. Y E S. -

I like how WKBD somehow had the second shortest time being a independent station right now, besides during the transition from being a Fox affiliate to being a UPN O&O station during 1994–1995 under Paramount ownership. -

That's why I mentioned San Francisco because it worked in Sacramento, but it didn't in the Bay Area. -
NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
mer764KCTV5 replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
Not only that but also, Fox Stations would just defeat any station which tries to air a 10pm newscast because their network just gave them 10pm to their affiliates. That's why the Early Prime-Time idea failed in San Francisco, (and why ABC didn't allow KGO-TV or any other station to participate in the idea) because they were getting defeated by KTVU (It's bot exactly the same since they still had 3 hours and not 2 hours, but the point's exactly there.) And for WTHR in Indianapolis, Early Prime-Time would be used because of Time-Zone weirdness. -
It's even weirder for WTVJ because it's own sister station, Telemundo O&O WSCV, was ranked higher then the NBC station. Also, it was 2002 when Tribune acquired WTTV from Sinclair, so Channel 4 was still a WB affiliate.

Oh boy, time for KSHB-TV to get them since they are an NBC Affiliate, yippee.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion

I feel bad for KFOX and especially KDBC-TV. The station really didn't deserve the treatment that it would get by Sinclair. Like KDBC had to deal with all of the problems since Pappas tried to make the station an Azteca America O&O (which is odd, because, isn't El Paso near the Mexico Border and some of the Mexican stations near El Paso airs Azteca programming?) which led to controversy about where would CBS go, then they aquired KDBC after Channel 4 continued with the affiliation with CBS. Then the deal with the Communications Corporation of America and KTSM-TV until 2013 when Nexstar aquired ComCorp and Sinclair bought some of the former Pappas stations. With that decreasing the chances to compete with KTSM and KVIA-TV as well as the Spanish-language stations. Also, I don't know if ARC Mornings is like Fox and Friends just for Sinclair. -
I also want to mention that, At least KTLA wasn't sold off to Gillett, and was instead sold off to Tribune Broadcasting.* Not exactly the same time, but it was the better solution in the situation in how stupid they are. *Tribune Broadcasting aquired KTLA in 1985, the same year that Storer Communications was aquired by KKR (Which led to problems in some areas. One big example would include South Florida.) WHO then, sold off the Storer stations to Gillett around 1987-1988.

Back when WZVN-TV was WEVU-TV under the ownership of Ellis Communications (WEVU would change its callsign to WZVN a year later.)

It's like the fact the Kansas City Chiefs games are carried on WDAF-TV, no matter if it's the AFC or the NFC. I could explain the same thing for WJW and the Cleveland Browns. It's like, The NFL probably doesn't care about NFC and AFC markets, they care if the games are being watched or not. That and money. Plus, Fox gained the rights to some of the NFL in 1993. -

Both are the top 75 largest markets, that's medium sized. I mean, Fox aquired WOGX in Ocala—Gainesville, Florida (The 162-largest TV market) when the Meredith Corporation sold off that station as well as WOFL when Meredith aquired KPTV from Fox. Plus, Fox owned a share in SF Broadcasting so they could've aquired all of SF Broadcasting if Silver King Broadcasting didn't aquire SF and if NBC didn't mostly filed an petition with the FCC over foreign ownership of their affiliate in Green Bay, WLUK. -

Oh, so the Patriots don't exist in Massachusetts? Oh that's cool. Also, not related to anyone's comment, if For was concerned, I feel like they in 2016 would probably asked WHDH-TV7 for the Fox Affiliation, but nope. And that's why WFXT is in this mess.
