AndrewPollard_ 6
On Tuesday, the New York Daily News announced that WCBS will debut a new subchannel at the end of this year. The new channel will have news, sports, weather and more with resources pooled in from WCBS and the New York radio stations owned by CBS. abc7 Man 47
Can't wait! That would be a great channel to have it is done right. BTW - How come WABC doesn't do something similar and show ABC News NOW on either 7.2 or 7.3? Why do they need to broadcast 2 "Lice Well Network" channels. The network would rather have two feeds of LWN to reach a greater number of cable subscribers, and when the AccuWeather contract was up in February(?), it seemed like a good time to boot the "Now" channels. IceManNYR 240
The new studio is very nice. Video is very sharp as there does not appear to be heavy filtering added to the cameras like WABC is using. There does appear to be one camera that does have a little filtering on it. They have a standing area for in studio reports. I'll record the 5pm newscast and post some pics later today. Weeters 1916
My guess is this went from "Let's start a subchannel" to "Let's buy WLNY". Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11526-wcbs-to-debut-news-like-subchannel/#findComment-70340 Share on other sites
civic110 18
Many viewers in NJ (central part of the state) do not have access to KYW out of Philadelphia or WLNY. When WCBS has put programming on WLNY, we get shut out of it. I hope that's rectified if that's the direction WCBS goes.
