wabceyewitness 827 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 (edited) Former WABC reporter Dray Clark (now with WCAU/NBC10 Philadelphia) has been arrested on charges of assault, terroristic threats and harassment. It’s his second arrest within the last week and both incidents involve the same woman. Clark is off the air indefinitely, according to WCAU. Edited September 29, 2019 by wabceyewitness

IceManNYR 240 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Eyewitness News is doing an Internet only 6 PM newscast as college football is broadcast on WABC.

The 3:30 CFB games have always gone past 6pm as long as I can remember. Prior to last fall, the station would air an OTA newscast a 7pm, after the 3:30 game concluded. Since the network decided to move the primetime Saturday Night Football game from 8pm to 7:30pm, it has also decided to take that 7pm half hour as well, given that some of those 3:30 games go past 7pm, leaving no room for a local station to do an early evening newscast OTA. The only good thing about the 7:30 start is that stations don't have to wait until almost midnight to start their newscasts. That's unless the game goes to overtime.,,, 1

I've always been aware of the 3:30 slot sometimes going past 6:00 with no room for local news. I guess now the internet only 6PM newscasts. Right, at least with the 7:30 slot the news can technically start at 11:00 depending if there is OT. However, on the average so far I've seen an 11:15 start for the news, but more or less the news NOW starting at the nose of 11:00.

Looks like there's no more 1AM re-broadcast during the week. Only Friday's newscast is only re-played. It's saying the same thing on my program guide on FIOS.
Kriston Lewis 2 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 WPVI has followed suit and removed their Action News encore from the schedule.
Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 This is interesting. Of all the WABC Eyewitness News broadcasts on YouTube, there has been none during Susan Roesgen's tenure at the desk. That changed today. Channel 7 itself posted this archive footage on their YouTube. That's literally the first on YT. There are some openings and commercials with her. This is the first newscast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6utfcax4v9s
Amra 171 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Why didn't Susan work out? She was pushed out?

They never specified what were the spats. Bill denied them to the press as well. Roesgen was 29 when she was hired by WABC, kind of this flashy young anchor to replace Kaity Tong, who had been forced out unfairly when they didn't renew her contract. I don't get the sense that Bill liked that flashy kind of personality next to him. Having worked with Kaity Tong, Roger Grimsby, Ernie Anastos, John Johnson and other real professionals with less flare, Susan was likely a different style. Regardless, she was gone by August 1, 1992. She made $175,000 a year in her stint with WABC compared to Kaity, who was making $600,000. Ratings at WABC actually had gone 10% up with Susan, which means it was not ratings related at all. Ultimately, this led to Diana WIlliams getting the 11 pm slot with Beutel and Harry Martin getting the weekend slot. Rest is history as you can say. 1
Jess 1116 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I wouldn’t describe Roger Grimsby as “less flashy” than Beutel. In fact the reason Beutel was hired in the first place was because Roger was too dominant a personality. He needed a straight man.
Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I wasn't trying to refer to Beutel as flashy. I meant, everyone he worked with were professionals, even if they were acerbic and deadpan [Grimsby]. I mean, Susan Roesgen is definitely a bit more flashy than the previous list I made.
