jeggleston 1 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Ive seen lots of pictures online in the past few days that say that the windows to the studio in ny have been blacked out and there is a picture of the whole team saying a new look at today, anybody got any confirmations? This could only mean a new set when they come back from the Olympics.
Daybreak 289 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Well it's about time if this is true. Their set did age well if I say so myself.
MidwestTV 1240 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 http://instagr.am/p/N2IdAeEBSH/ Instagram! I NEVER would've thought to go there! But yes, I agree with you @daybreak. however, it's just old now for its time and the era it came from. At the time yes, it was very state of the art for 2006 and was one of the first "modern" sets, but they'll need something like GMA or CBSTM to really look nice now.
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Well with the blackened windows at 1A and the team in London for the past few weeks, this clearly proves that there will be a new set waiting for them and us when the Games are over and they arrive in New York... Or its something that gives us anticipation until its unveiling and then its just a ripoff. We'll see then.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Are Hoda and Kathy-Lee still airing in western markets (here on the East Coast, the Olympics Coverage starts at 10am, obviously, their normal time slot)? If so, are they "Previously Recorded", Taped on the Plaza, or Upstairs in 1A?
jeggleston 1 Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Are Hoda and Kathy-Lee still airing in western markets (here on the East Coast, the Olympics Coverage starts at 10am, obviously, their normal time slot)? If so, are they "Previously Recorded", Taped on the Plaza, or Upstairs in 1A? Theyre completely off until the Olympics are over. Hoda is with the today team in London and Kathie Lee is probably getting vacation time.
Weeters 1969 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Hey, for once it looks like a new set prediction is true! also if you have a hot tip about what's going on here you can email us anonymously at tips at tvnewstalk.net.
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Do you think that NBC will be airing promos soon? Figure: New anchor (Savannah Guthrie), new set. It's A New Day! Wait... That was the 2006 promo. Darn. What bed are they going to use this time?
MidwestTV 1240 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I doubt it that they will. I frankly would much rather be surprised in this case then be told about it because I'll then be anxious for the Olympics to get over and the Today Show to get back in New York City.
MorningNews 1489 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Studio 1A was in need of a makeover. Last time I watched the set looked pretty dated. Maybe they'll make a small renovation to the studio but I believe this is something else being that the wall says "a new way to look at Today" rather than a new look for Today. They've often referred to the windows as the audiences view into the show. Just thoughts.
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 If there is a new set and NBC has been using Clickspring as the design firm, do you think they would use them again for the 1A set?
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Granted, at this point it is all speculation. But what type of speculation at this point isn't fun?
jeggleston 1 Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Here's another pic I found on instagram.
MorningNews 1489 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I'm anxious for the Olympics to end so we can see what they're working on.
jeggleston 1 Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 No new set sadly... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/a-new-set-for-today-show_b140441
MorningNews 1489 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 That's what I was thinking especially because the windows says A New Way To Look At Today. It seems that it has something to do with how people can view Today.
MidwestTV 1240 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Well that's a shame! Because they really really need it! A new exterior? What's that supposed to mean?
24994J 5621 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I fail to understand how it's a "new way" to see the show unless a new set is involved. Are the windows going to be the Hi-Def panes like those sunglasses on the infomercials?
jeggleston 1 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 I think they just want us to believe that they aren't getting a new set then they come back and they have this brand new state of the art studio.
24994J 5621 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 They don't even need to do this massive overhaul...the set prior to the "Whitewash" went largely unchanged for about a decade, as I recall. All they really need to do is change the desk(s), couches and duratrans behind the main desk, maybe do some painting and modify some lighting. Remember, this is only 3 weeks, the '06 remodel took most of the summer (but I think there was some major structural work done, too).
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Is today back at 30 rock Monday? Yep. 08/13.
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 At this time, we will be very curious as to what will be behind the Dark of the Moon wall, and what will be revealed on Monday. Is it a really new set? A cosmetic change? Or deck chair rearranging? We'll have to find out on Monday.
