KevCor 344
And KAGS got it before KCEN? Even that's hard to believe. I said the same when I saw. It was probably the easiest to do, if you remember the general basic-ness of their previous site. TVNewsLover 774
Mary Richards and Ted Baxter also taking buyouts at WJM after more than 40 years. Mary had been fired along with Sue Ann Nivens, Lou Grant, and Murray Slaughter in 1977. Glad to see Ted take the buyout, he should have been the one fired all those years ago! 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13009-tegna-broadcasting-and-digital-general-discussion/page/59/#findComment-149150 Share on other sites

ATL46 11
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if WFAA or even any of TEGNA's three flagships are next They've already hit WXIA, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that WXIA's weekend anchor Keith Whitney(1993), educational reporter Donna Lowry(1986) and reporter Kevin Rowson(1994) are taking Tegna buyouts. It also stated that four photographers at the station are also taking buyouts. Also note that Business/Consumer Editor/Help Desk Reporter Bill Liss was also eligible but Declined and will Continue to work for 11Alive for atleast to near future. Jon Shriek(1979), Jerry Carnes(1986), Brenda Wood(1997), Chris Holcomb(1990), Jaye Watson(1999), Valerie Hoff (1999) and Jennifer Leslie (1998) were not offered but were eligible for the Buyout 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13009-tegna-broadcasting-and-digital-general-discussion/page/59/#findComment-149170 Share on other sites

KevCor 344
I think the buyout criteria was anyone who is over 55 or had been with the station longer than 30 years. And it appears everyone's last day will be 4/21. bhratbrat 437
Yesterday FTVLive reported on the pettiness of TEGNA management about their union employees. Union employees will not be reimbursed for parking fees at the new KING 5 studio nor are they able to access an employee discount program for major purchases. Today the story got picked up by Gawker bringing the issue to a larger audience. They actually let their primary on-air team take the buyout? That's just bad business.... Yes..but KING 5 has not been a great place of business in the past few months you know ever since what happened with the unions. 3 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13009-tegna-broadcasting-and-digital-general-discussion/page/59/#findComment-149225 Share on other sites

KevCor 344
Yes..but KING 5 has not been a great place of business in the past few months you know ever since what happened with the unions. I mean, I had been aware of the union fight, but nonetheless-- they lost their entire evening anchor team, plus their Chief Meteorologist... And they're about to head into sweeps. For a #1 station (if they were even still that) that spells disaster.
