Probably not. The network would probably show pics either a few days before their debuts or the day of.

That is unless there won't be pics released at all and we'll have to wait until Showtime.

Then we'll be lucky if the hosts give a tour (which is likely).

There's a new promo for Meyers that shows him walking around what we'd believe to be the studio that features a lot of wood...rather light wood, at that. The curtain/entrance opening appears to be a large arch shape. Again, that's IF this is the official studio.

Update: Well, looky here...

Geez! With the third one, I understood all of the tech speak and recognized the actor at the end. Hmmm.

But...some of that tech speak was just broadcast engineering terms thrown together.

Audio Operator: "5.1 Dolby, right?"

Seth: "Lets do HD-SDI, but be sure it's through a converter box."

No.

I know that. I just said that I understood the terminology. I never said that is was coherent. 5.1 Dolby is the way in which the audio is broken up and delivered, while HD-SDI is the interface by which the audio is acquired.

so both shows are going to be in NYC? Wasn't the Tonight Show originally in NYC when it started?

Til '72.

Yes it has. And has been for the first 10 years of Johnny Carson's tenure as host, before, of course, moving to Burbank in '72.

Both "Tonight with Jack Parr" and "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" were in Studio 6B, too.

Sorry if you misunderstood...but that wasn't really directed at you. I just thought it was humorous that he was speaking nonsense.

David Letterman could really use an updated set. It's basically been the same since 1996, IIRC.

And what he has had since moving to CBS wasn't that different from what he had at NBC before that.

In an amusing moment, BriWi's interview with Fallon on 'NN' tonight closed with the two observing Studio 6B (out of the view of cameras), with Williams noting how pink the studio is, and wondering "what's with the urinal?" :rofl!:

I was just watching this video of Seth Meyers talking about hosting Late Night, and they quickly showed the set. Fortunately, because I have a quick eye, I took a couple pics of it.

So what do you think?

Posted

Yes, they work now, but I don't know what to make of the set. I'm thinking it's going to be a similar set-up as Kimmel and the old Ferguson studio, where the desk and monologue space are one and the same, the sitting area moved into place during a commercial. I honestly can't see the platform fitting anywhere without ruining the shot of the archway/presumed stand-up backdrop.

At first, I thought maybe the interview area would be at the side like Fallon. Then you made your point, and now I think that this will be a very interesting set-up. And I don't know about the panel thing; if there's gonna be a curtain, what's the Late Night logo projection for?

Are we sure that the set in the commercial isn't, you know, a set FOR the commercial and not in fact the real set for the show? Just chucking that idea out there.
