The Dallas Morning News will join other major Texas newspapers in the Hearst empire. Shareholders of the DallasNews Corp will receive $14/share and the paper will be taken private. In some alternative multiverse, it was their TV stations. 3 1
HearstArgyleFan90 46 Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 I wonder how long the graphics rollout to the other stations is going to take. With the last update (diagrid v2), all stations switched to the refreshed graphics in 2018, albeit in phases. WESH debuted the new look in January of that year; then subsequently, it was rolled out to the other NBC stations in February, then KCCI and WLKY in March, and finally the ABC stations in April. 1
EVVTV12 204 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 On the same day it turned 140, The Dallas Morning News confirmed it is now a Hearst newspaper. Hearst became owner of the paper on September 24th, one day after shareholders approved the merger at $16.50/share, up from the previous offer of $14/share. I know we all said, “At least it wasn’t Alden.” Alden did put in a bid after Hearst of $16.50/share; the board said. Once again in September, another bid of $20/share; the board and shareholders said no. Both the board and shareholders all know and see what Alden has done to other papers. They would rather lose a little bit of money than see the newspaper go under. 2
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 It looks like Hearst is getting into the local sports/OTA broadcast party. Select Orlando Magic games are coming to WESH 2, WKCF CW 18, and Tampa's MOR. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/select-orlando-magic-games-to-air-on-wesh-wkcf-wmor/ 1
Recovering Producer 410 Posted Monday at 09:10 PM Posted Monday at 09:10 PM Possible quiet consolidation of morning newscasts in Fort Myers? Can't legally download/share, but saw on a media monitoring service I have access to for the day job that WBBH and WZVN were simulcasting morning newscasts today, show open had no network logos on it, while the bugs had NBC/ABC depending on which station. (Which makes sense, most places have logo/time/temp bug from NewsTicker downstream from the news control room switcher so it can easily be put up over any source) On TitanTV the WZVN morning newscast has changed from "Good Morning Gulf Coast" to "Gulf Coast News Today" which matches WBBH. 1
cg4 18 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was under the impression they already were doing some sort of consolidation ever since the branding changed.
