When people turn from the network shows at 10 o'clock, it really is not a good idea to be covering some trivial clickbait drivel (the breastfeeding story) while your three competitors are covering the top stories.

This, a million times over.

Why don't they actually have Tom at Ten like they said they would? That would be better than being in the middle of a lame click bait story at 10:00.

It looks like they're more interested in keeping their own 9:00 viewers than luring people away from the big three networks. Just look at the way they reformatted the News at Nine to set up the Ten. Do they really expect people to stay for 90 minutes? I don't think that's a good idea, either.

Yeah, I don't understand their strategy. Why not just extend the 9 pm newscast to 10:00 on the dot (instead of 9:57) and start there with the actual top stories?

I have a feeling they spent all their time and resources coming up with the promo animation where the clock turns into the @ symbol, and literally did nothing else to prepare for this show.

Oh, and this isn't specific to the 10 pm news per se, but as of about a week ago, they stopped having the sports anchor stand up at the desk. They're now seated at the desk, squeezed in between the anchor and the round "table" at the edge of the desk. Might as well eliminate that round "table" thing on the desk. I guess it's not used for anything anymore.

And wow, that was a very rushed and disjointed close to the newscast.

Well, at least they closed with all of them at the desk together for the first time in years. And we get to see the 7-day again. (And he kept all of the text in the boxes. Damn!)

Having all four around certainly forces Micah to dial it back, which is always welcome. It's like how the morning show is better with all four anchors than just three.

Feder had the ratings this morning, and ABC 7 should be breathing a sigh of relief...at least for now.

WLS: 7.1 / 2.8

WMAQ: 6.2 / 2.8

WGN: 2.9 / 1.6

WBBM: 2.5 / 0.9

Honestly, WLS and WMAQ have nothing to worry about from WGN. It's WBBM that has to be very, very concerned.

Not surprised that Channel 9 has beat Channel 2 in the first night and won't be surprised when Channel 9 will continue to beat Channel 2 at 10pm. For all I care, they probably already beat Channel 2 at 11am and 5pm.

I'm going to reiterate my joking idea from last week speculating that the lottery/Bozo studio will become a temp set.

I agree that the timing was much improved, but it seems to me that the program is still really soft in the middle. After Skilling, if I recall correctly, the show was pretty much Negovan, Elwood, and Roan's content, right?

And WGN too... Look at the Demos between 5 and 7 too... Tied. That's a tight race that I doubt 7 is relieved about at all...

Considering NBC essentially led in the demo since May, being tied is better than before.

Oh, and I only verbally mentioned 'BBM since being posted in the WGN thread implied they were mentioned..."and WBBM, too".
