rkolsen 1685 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Today msnbc launched a new online network called shift. From what I've read shift will be used by msnbc to cultivate new talent and contributors so they can grow their skills and maybe get a shot at contributing on msnbc. My internet connection is spotty right now but from what I have seen it appears there will be different schedules each day.
ToriElectra 292 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Didn't expect this; there was no warning. Almost seems like their attempt at a counterpart to CBSN. It does fit the network, considering they started with internet in their DNA.
10Viewer 338 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Does anyone else think 'shift' is a bad name? I can see the potential for some gaffes.
24994J 5621 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Their tagline/hashtag is #shifthappens, so yes, someone's gonna screw up.
rkolsen 1685 Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Looking back I guess I should have guessed that they were going to start producing an online video channel. On election night msnbc ran a looser election return show with Krystal Ball and Ari Melber from The Cycle. I kind of was expecting that the production of the show would be automated but by some Instagram posts it appears the are using a full control room. http://instagram.com/p/wodkqCpjnW/
mre29 1553 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Does anyone else think 'shift' is a bad name? I can see the potential for some gaffes. Forget the gaffes. They pretty much handed the haters a ready-made pejorative.
