kshow 167 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 From The Facebook of Maurice DuBois: Dear friends and colleagues, I'm taking some time off because I've been diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, a temporary condition which has caused weakness on the right side of my face. My doctors say the prognosis is good once it runs its course. Thanks so much for your concern and well-wishes; I look forward to getting back to work as soon as possible. Maurice Looks like he will be out for some time until he gets better. Thoughts?
24994J 5664 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Doing a little research, he is likely very lucky. It sounds like the condition can just pop up overnight. B.P. is the term used for the temporary paralysis only after more serious afflictions like strokes and tumors have been ruled out. B.P. is typically resolved within days or even a few weeks.
anchorman 96 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Maybe the idiots who were hyperventilating he was going to network can pipe down now. Feel better Maurice.
Big Country News 435 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'd like to see Chris Wragge back in the 6 and 11 anchor chair.
Action Newsroom 1313 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Thank goodness it was nothing worse. Still wishing him a good and speedy recovery.
24994J 5664 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'd like to see Chris Wragge back in the 6 and 11 anchor chair. Did you not read the post above you?
rkolsen 1694 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 It's a scary thing. My uncle had a bout with it. John Sudworth, a BBC reporter based in Shanghai, dealt with it and here's a link to a video showing different clips over the course of a year of his recovery.
kshow 167 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Here's the segment they did on today's 5PM Newscast... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/01/12/maurice-dubois-bells-palsy/
nynewslover 281 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 FIRST and most importantly praying for Maurice and happy to hear he's getting better. Second a question.. Why are they using Chris at night? They can easily use Dana Tyler, Alice Gainer, Dick Brennan or even reporters like Brian Conybeare or someone who can cover both newscasts
wnbc2016 23 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Cause he is prob eyeing for an evening slot. Even if it doesn't effect Maurice he might be put on at 6 with Dana again.

Are you related to Brian Conybeare or are you in fact Brian Conybeare? Almost every one of your posts lately is about this rather unimportant reporter.

Was making a simple suggestion that's all, kind of like everyone else does on every post on this site. Oh and they also have the option of Andrea Grymes, Diane Macedo and Cindy Hsu and Alex Denis. And no I'm not any of them either

And no I'm not any of them either I was asked the same thing when I suggested Matt Kozar should get a shot at the weekend anchor desk. Funny how I was shot down but WCBS did exactly that. I digress...

Newsfan 9 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I'm watching him on CBS2 at 11 right now and he looks great. I'm so happy he's much better and back in the anchors chair.
