WESH new set?

The new 5pm Theme is from the Early Evening 2013 disc. They just started using it this week. The theme used for the Morning Open, and just the open, is from a 2015 Morning News Disc. The cut used during the opening tease is from 2012. During the newscast, they still use the original theme for most teases. I wish they would have used the amazing 2016 Evening updates which alot of stations have quickly picked up. They sound so good!

Do you have any examples of the 2016 evening update? Which stations are using it?

I don't have it so I am not sure if these examples are actually from it...

KSBW at 5 and 11

WCVB at 4

KCRA on occasion for opens (they use a mix of various cuts)

WLKY at 11

KCCI at 5, 6, and 11

WESH on occasion for teases

WISN uses it too...

There are some more stations, but these are just some of them.

I feel like the Hearst's mid-2000's FX set-in-a-can really set a precedent for news sets. They were fairly unique (even though they were cloned across the country), very nice to look at, and were designed well.

Every recent set they've bought just seems to be an "improvement" just because.... well... it's new. There's nothing that unique about them. They further cement the awful "diagrid" package in place by being covered with set pieces and duratrans that match the graphics look.

I like the Diagrid. I would like to see a new package with a diagrid-ish look, though. It's been 5 years and it's starting to look clunky.

It's kind of their corporate signature; I forgot that the Hearst Tower is a diagrid and it was likely inspired by that so I have no issue with that. But the issue I have with the package is the dark colors they use, and have since the first standard package in the 90s. Maybe move away from that dark blue and red and go with a new color or different shade; it feels like a bank keeping it to satisfy traditionalists.

Too be honest many of the ones recently replaced got junked up or wasn't properly cared for. Look at how dumpy the WESH set was - the RP was washed out and ran the old graphics.

As for the graphics they were well designed when they came out. I could see them redoing it in a different style while retaining the diagrid.

I don't mind the set... Like some previous comments (can't copy & paste on mobile for some odd reason) -- the diagrid pattern will most likely be a mainstay for a long time, as the Hearst Building is uniquely shaped with the diagrid pattern... I too would like to see a refresh of the current graphics package... But the set is nice
