Mrtraveler01 739 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Update to the situation at Spectrum News 1 Ohio: By that same source, those of us in Ohio who have Spectrum will see the channel hit the airwaves this Wednesday! More on that here: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DrRGdrwWkAEDXYi.jpg:large There are some pics of their rehearsals on the same feed.
nathannah 2528 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 My Spectrum bill came today; it says the VOD move off channel 1 in Wisconsin will occur on November 27.
skbl17 188 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I really, really like that Spectrum News 1 theme. Really wish we had a Spectrum News channel here in Atlanta, but Comcast's iron grip on the region precludes this.
rah6448 21 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I really, really like that Spectrum News 1 theme. Really wish we had a Spectrum News channel here in Atlanta, but Comcast's iron grip on the region precludes this. Yeah, that theme is really cool. It has a WBZ/WSBK 1994 feel to it when you listen to them side by side (link to the theme on NMSA: http://www.southernmedia-nmsa.com/#3,1,1060). Could this be a new theme rolling to the other Spectrum News stations?
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 There are some pics of their rehearsals on the same feed. It depends. I don't know how soon Spectrum (or Tivo, who does the channel lineup) will be able to update for Spectrum News 1.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Also, I have a question: Will Spectrum make the Spectrum News 1 available to other cable providers in Ohio (ie Armstrong, Buckeye, Massillon Cable TV, etc)?
LoadStar 364 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Also, I have a question: Will Spectrum make the Spectrum News 1 available to other cable providers in Ohio (ie Armstrong, Buckeye, Massillon Cable TV, etc)? Definitely not. Spectrum News 1 is advertised as a Spectrum exclusive.
compubit 676 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I could see them offering it to other traditional cable providers - as long as it’s “not on satellite, not on phone company tv” - like NY1 is available to other cable providers in the NY area. J
SoCalLocal 7 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 News 1 in LA will likely launch next week on November 16th.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 As of today, Spectrum News 1 is on channel 1 in Ohio.
Eat News 4745 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Are all the different cities all on channel one ...on all the participating Spectrum systems?
appleachian 135 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Are all the different cities all on channel one ...on all the participating Spectrum systems?Spectrum News in N.C. (née News 14 Carolina) is still on channel 14.
CalItalian2 163 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 News 1 in LA will likely launch next week on November 16th. See that they posted that on their FB page after someone asked when. Makes no sense to start on a Friday and less than one week before Thanksgiving. Dumb. And today they missed the biggest story in SoCal all year.
LoadStar 364 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Spectrum News Wisconsin updates: - Spectrum has a programming notice indicating that Spectrum Sports will go away "on or around December 31, 2018." I expect that's a conservative estimate, but I can't find anything definitive on a launch date. - Brooke Brighton (twitter) and Kristin Ketchell (twitter) appear to be on-air meteorologists for Spectrum News Wisconsin, and Diane Irving (twitter) appears to be news director.
Eat News 4745 Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 I can't wait to see what major station group tries to hop into bed with Spectrum News in cities where my local news presence may be weak. Sinclair and Spectrum News anyone? (But seriously folks...I'm just thinking out of my ass, but that would be so funny and all you tv purist would just poop giant garbanzo beans if that ever happend.)

Diane was the Assistant ND at WTMJ for years. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the other bigger profile WTMJ departures (i.e. George Mallett) from the past year follow her over.
TheRolyPoly 2641 Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 News 1 in LA will likely launch next week on November 16th. And your right... via the Los Angeles Business Journal: http://labusinessjournal.com/news/2018/oct/26/spectrum-news-starts-nov-16/
Asomrjsurf 6 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Maybe Hearst and Spectrum News but then Orlando would have 3 local News Channels.
CLETVFan 369 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Can Spectrum News Ohio have a better chance to succeed than the long-gone Ohio News Network?
TexasTVNews 1379 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 I wish Spectrum can start expanding news all across Texas (DFW, Houston, Beaumont, Etc.) besides Austin and San Antonio. I wish it had a better chance to succeed than the long-gone TXCN.

I wish it had a better chance to succeed than the long-gone TXCN. I agree a Texas news network would be a good thing to have. Remember, tho, that Houston is a Comcast market. No Spectrum there.
Eat News 4745 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 These little spectrum news channels would also be good for prep sports coverage... To be continued...
mre29 1572 Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 I wish Spectrum can start expanding news all across Texas (DFW, Houston, Beaumont, Etc.) besides Austin and San Antonio. Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo, Brownsville, Laredo, Waco, Bryan, Wichita Falls, Tyler, Victoria... Basically, they need to try to get it on every cable system in the state -- and then actually cover those areas.
news89 468 Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Here is the short video of Spectrum News 1 Ohio.
