Brian Ross has left the building...

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/07/02/brian-ross-out-at-abc-news-months-after-botched-report-donald-trump-russia-tanked-stock-market.html

And if any of you run into Mr.Ross in the future...ask him about the night he felt the full wrath of the shark in La Jolla ,Ca....a few years ago...

Ya see one night Brian and friends blew into town with no notice to the local affil. Brian told the locals he was working on a huge "federal operation" in town and was demanding all kinds of "local assistance" but refused to disclose the nature of the exclusive.

Kinda not too cool to expect the locals to bow down to you without even a case of beer......

The local affil used some creative "sourcing" and found out the Feds "operation" (the big bust) was going down 12 hours earlier then expected....the locals also were in the process of shooting the exclusive video that Ross was hoping to be in on the next morning.

Brian has traveled far my friends...

Brian was a bit pissed-off when he got that call from the Network News Desk informing him he just got his ass kicked by the locals, and because Ross was being a dick...he had to call and beg the locals for the EXCLUSIVE video for use in Nightly.

Yes,

Brian Ross was screwed by the local affiliates news department in a big way.

The locals could have forgiven Brian and his field producer from the beer gestures..but when he refused to "play ball" with the locals, and he got his lunch handed to him.

And what did the network say???

Nothing.

Cuz they knew they acted like jerks...and got what was coming to them.

Moral of the story...

Play nice...don't be a network jerk.

Happy 4th

What was the story?

Ross falsely reported that Donald Trump directed Michael Flynn to talk to the Russians while the former was a candidate, when it really happened while he was president-elect. Major difference.

Thanks for responding. However I was inquiring about Eats story in La Jolla.

It was a DEA operation targeting Cali cartel members (Colombians) it would eventually lead to the downfall of Pablo Escobar.

I don't think this came as a surprise. Announcement of Ross's departure came exactly three months after the announcement that Kyra Phillips would join ABC as an investigative correspondent. They probably kept him around for three months to ensure a smooth transition.

Back in the 80s? Who would have been the affiliate then?

Looks like his departure was tied to the end of the fiscal year at ABC.

Typical ABC.

Always a good idea to keep these folks around for a bit so the lawyers can assess the "damage" that may have , or will be done.

Of course a nice transition is always preferred, but it's not like Ross is going to turn in his secret list of sources to ABC news management.

Keep him "on ice".

That way he still gets paid (and his producer) and you still have a good amount of leverage in exit negations.
