dman748 1256
Since there are General Discussion threads for Fox, ESPN and NBC related to Sports, I think CBS needs one of its own To get this thread started, Beth Mowins will be the first female play-by-play announcer to call NFL games for CBS EDIT: Wrong link, that was from last year Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16623-the-cbs-sports-thread/ Share on other sites

dman748 1256
That article was last year since CBS no longer has TNF. Is there anything happening with CBS Sports with new announcers, reports, anything of that nature? The closest I can find is changes with College Football with Allie LaForce leaving and Jamie Erdahl taking her place Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16623-the-cbs-sports-thread/#findComment-210944 Share on other sites

The closest I can find is changes with College Football with Allie LaForce leaving and Jamie Erdahl taking her place It's weird this year because Fox released their press statement about their 2018 announcer pairings all the way back on July 30th, which was earlier than normal. Usually this week is when both networks would put their press release out, in advance of their first nationally-televised preseason games of the year. That's what I'm thinking, what's the hold-up on CBS' end as far as not assigning who the announcers are for this season? Viper550 291
The CBS-produced Conference USA games have a slightly different version of the normal graphics. What is it with the Facebook-streamed sports in general and putting the scoreboards in the top-right? Viper550 291
The Masters got their "once every 8 years or so" graphics redesign. They finally went flat and boxy, They match up with elements of the graphics NBC was using for the Women's Amateur the other day (except those graphics seemed to graph elements of these onto the current Golf Channel templates), but do not have any lineage to what CBS currently uses besides being flat and boxy (in fact I wouldn't mind if CBS actually used these layouts for its main graphics, even if it did get DIN and gradients painted over it). The leaderboard design is a nice touch, as it actually matches the real-life physical leaderboard (not unlike how NBC's Open Championship graphics match up with their yellow physical leaderboard) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16623-the-cbs-sports-thread/#findComment-224682 Share on other sites

WCAUTVNBC10 413
Looks a lot like what NBC/Golf Channel was using for the Women's tournament last week. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16623-the-cbs-sports-thread/#findComment-224711 Share on other sites
TheRolyPoly 2416
BREAKING just now: Masters is moving its final round tomorrow to 7:30 a.m. EDT due to bad weather expected in Augusta. This means an early 2:00 p.m. EDT finish expected on CBS. This may mean that local morning news could be canceled as well as Sunday Morning and Face The Nation (at least for this week) as a result of this just announced move. Wow, I dunno who I think that sucks for more: those who don't watch golf but watch the news, SM and FTN, or those who do, but aren't morning people. Oh well. Well there's going to be a lot of people complaining to the CBS affiliates tomorrow when they see golf at 9am ET. It's going to suck more for those who watch CBSN tomorrow - a large part of their schedule is actually dependent on FTN and SN running! Not sure why CBS didn't make the call to do FTN and SN on CBSN to be honest.
