WJW Fox 8 is adding Amanda Berry to its news team. They've been advertising her arrival all day during the big game.

 

Berry was one of the three women rescued from a Cleveland west side house after they have been kidnapped there and captured for over ten years until 2013.

 

Monday morning at 8am is when they'll reveal what she'll be doing at Fox 8.

Judging by the 10:55 in the corner, I'm going to guess this show ran way under time and nobody noticed because Tribune decided putting computers in the control room instead of actual people was a good idea.

 

KTXL's templates are weird because the producers don't set a hard "out" time. I think the Tribune animation is supposed to hit at 56:45 on weeknights and 57:45 on Saturday night.

Missing for at least three weeks now is WRC's Barbara Harrison. Ironically, there's been no posts to her twitter account since around Christmas. Also, during the 11am hour when there's a link to "Watch News4 Midday" it now has a generic NBC4 photo instead of Barbara's picture. Might she be a goner, or just taking extended time off?

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Performers at the Spanish-language network Telemundo

will begin voting today on whether to join SAG-AFTRA.

A simple majority is needed to approve representation by the union,

which represents approximately 160,000 actors, broadcast journalists and other

media professionals. Voting will be conducted by mail through March 8.

SAG-AFTRA submitted petitions to the National Labor Relations Board on

Dec. 9, seeking an election.

Telemundo employs 1,900 people around the world.

``We are excited to have the opportunity to vote and create a working

environment that is fair for everyone in our industry,'' said Katie Barberi, an

actress with roles in multiple telenovelas. ``We are proud of Telemundo's

success, and we believe SAG-AFTRA representation will make it an even better

network in the future.''

The unionization effort has drawn the support of Alec Baldwin, Susan

Sarandon, Chris Rock, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Scarlett Johansson and Bryan

Cranston.

``This vote is about equity, fairness and the fundamental rights of

Spanish-speaking actors in this industry and in our country,'' SAG-AFTRA

President Gabrielle Carteris said.

``We have given Telemundo performers our full support as they take this

courageous step, and we look forward to welcoming them to our family.''

They better be careful and not get too greedy. Telemundo is inching closer and closer to overtaking Univision and any disruption to that momentum is going to backfire on them...bigly. I am for union-representation, but there has to be a compromise on both sides. I wish them luck.

Kudos to Amanda for having the courage to emerge from the shadows.

 

I think it's the first time she'll be seen in public since a guest appearance at shock jock Shane "Rover" French's annual day-long music festival (in 2013, not long after her mind-boggling emancipation with Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, the latter of which has become a very public advocate for the abducted and abused).

Programming Changes are happening at Orlando's CBS station WKMG.

 

The Orlando Sentinel stated that the station decided to move Let's Make A Deal from 10am to 3pm (after The Talk). The station hope this show would lead viewers to its 4pm newscasts.

 

Rachael Ray will move from 9am to 10am, and Crime Watch Daily will move from 3pm to 9am.

 

The changes will go in effect next week.

What was not mentioned in that TVSpy piece, and mentioned from the Honolulu Star-Advertiser is main anchor Yunji de Nies, who'd recently had a baby late last year, will be leaving the station at the end of the month.

 

Also Mike Cherry (I thought he was the main anchor for the late news) will be sports anchoring the 5pm show, while Higa will do the 6 & 10pm shows (why they need two sports anchors, I don't know).

 

The question is who's going to anchor the 5pm with Paula?

 

Every since the ownership change, there been a slew of on-air folks that have left KITV 4. Yunji becomes the latest one to leave the station.
