Detroit is a sh!tty place to live?

The city is bad outside of downtown... but you have to understand that 4.8 million of the 5.5 million or so in the viewing area don't live in the city... things are quite alright in the burbs thank you... so it's a complete misconception people who aren't from the area have about it...

KTUL announced on their 4pm that Chief meteorologist Mike Collier has resigned after over 16 years with Channel 8.

BTW, this leaves KTUL with 3 meteorologists, which is actually the lowest in the market, market leader KOTV has 6, KJRH and KOKI have 5.

Also, KOTV reporter Tony Russell has recently joined KJRH.

I saw a report saying he's staying in market and may be heading to KJRH. Probably would have to wait for the non-compete clause to expire though.

Detroiters are ride or die for their city, and despite everything in Detroit it still standing. Yes, they have their issues, but what major city doesn't?

Suburban Detroit and the many areas around it is great, beautiful and have a lot to offer.

Big ratings shakeup in Seattle. KIRO is now #1 in almost all the key spots. Looks like KING is paying the price for all the changes/cuts it has made.

Don't let the WFXT debacle fool you, Cox is still a really good group.

Looks like that mistake occurred when NBC Boston was live. Do they simulcast the newscasts? If so I wonder if. The mistake went out on both channels

Yes, NECN simulcast some NBC Boston broadcasts. But it looks like this newscast aired exclusively on NECN at the time this graphic was shown.

I thought NECN only simulcasted WBTS' weekday (4:30-7:00am) and weekend (5:30-7:00am Sat. and 5:30-8:00am Sun.) morning news.

Sorry for the double post but... WOW! Huge shocker and huge props and congrats to KIRO and CMG for sticking to what they do in Seattle. KING's downfall, thanks to TEGNA and KOMO's somewhat downfall thanks to Sinclair has really helped KIRO big time. Boy they got lucky that KING is screwing up.

Interesting, and wouldn't be the first time. Taft Price was picked up by KJRH from Ch. 8.

It might've not been a simulcast, but probably was a replay from its 11am (or an earlier) NECN broadcast.

If it would've been an NBC Boston simulcast, you would've saw a graphics with a font that's used on the NBC broadcast.

So unrelated to this...

The NY Daily News posted that Gray Television has sued two people for using false names & materials to get booked on WEAU's local program, "Hello Wisconsin".

I brought it up because with automation nowadays you can easily have a simulcast that outputs two different graphics packages.

I wonder what will happen after Tribune is sold (assuming it is) - that could be the next game changer if KCPQ can make moves. Unless Sinclair keeps it and sells KOMO...

This is definitely KIRO's time to shine though and they took advantage of an opening.

A while back it was posted that Denise Koch will no longer anchor WJZ's 11PM newscasts. Well as I guessed Mary Bubala has been named as her replacement at 11 PM. She started this past Monday.

Is there any station TEGNA hasn't driven into the ground yet? Sooner than later, we may see Meredith claiming victory at KPTV (sure, they're a FOX affiliate when that network is struggling, but they're up against TEGNA, Sinclair, and Nexstar).

Yep. Them too. They can shine as well.

Never has it been a better time for KPTV to take advantage and become #1. I hope they do. They deserve it.

KREM? KTVB? WBIR? WCSH? WFMY? WGRZ? The Jacksonville duo?

This doesn't include the one truly bulletproof TEGNA station: WMAZ. They could do their worst and still dominate that market because the competition is so clueless.
