TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Say it with me... I won't this time. It's Gray, KMOV, and the St. Louis Cardinals. For the first time since KSDK had longtime OTA rights to them before giving it up in 2010 (KPLR before that), KMOV will be carrying a select few telecasts of the birds this upcoming season, whether it's Channel 4 or Matrix Midwest. KFVS, KYTV, KSPR or KYCW; WMC, KAIT, WIFR or WSLN; WEEK, WGEM, WFIE, KTIV, KCRG, KYOU, KWQC, and KTTC or KXLT (either on their main channels or on a digitnet) will carry these games as well. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/st-louis-cardinals-partner-with-gray-media-kmov-matrix-midwest/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=St.+Louis+Cardinals+Partner+With+Gray+Media%2c+KMOV+%26amp%3b+Matrix+Midwest&utm_campaign=Less+Hype%2c+More+Hybridity+For+Cloud+Vendors+In+2025 4
tyrannical bastard 4055 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 It would great to see the Cleveland Ind...er...Guardians strike some similar kind of deal with WUAB and the Rock Sports Entertainment Group. I don't know how having an exclusively MLB package is sitting with the Cleveland fans. But it's got to be a slight improvement from having to deal with Bally Sports and all their issues. There are still some bitter fans out there after WUAB lost the rights in 2001. 2

I really need expected that KTIV and The Springfield, MO stations to air Cardinals games, given the fact they're closer to Kansas City, and therefore the Kansas City Royals. 1

The 10 games (still being finalized as to which games) will air on NewsOn6Now which is their 24/7 news rebroadcast channel over the air and Cox Cable 53. While OKC will be on KSBI 52. TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 37 stations are joining WIS Columbia in airing Gray's Local News LIVE in their afternoon lineups. One such example? WLUC 6.2. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2025/03/17/3043985/0/en/Gray-Stations-Add-Local-News-Live-to-Daily-Programming-Lineup.html https://www.uppermichiganssource.com/2025/03/17/fox-up-add-local-news-live-daily-programming-lineup/ 1
broadcastfan9751 140 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Somehow, this didn't get much attention other than a paywalled Bloomberg article, but back on March 7th, the Court of Appeals issued a decision in Gray's appeal of the FCC's $518,283 fine against it over the KTVA/KYES acquisition. They affirmed the FCC's ruling that Gray violated the top-four rule but vacated the fine, saying that the FCC did not say in the Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture that it found Gray's conduct to be egregious (which is one of the factors in calculating fine amounts), only doing so in the Forfeiture Order. As a result, Gray couldn't respond to the FCC's finding in its response to the NAL. They also said that the FCC didn't adequately explain "how it considered whether Gray acted in good faith" in determining the fine amount. The case will now go back to the FCC for further proceedings. Court Opinion: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DOC-410086A1.pdf 1 2

Yes, WIS and WLUC 6.2 are among them but according to checks of schedules, I found stations in Wichita, Cincinnati, Knoxville, Kansas City, Lubbock, Cape Girardeau, Rochester (Minn.), Fort Wayne, Lexington, St. Louis, Las Vegas, and Reno, among others, who are also airing Gray's afternoon newscast. Actually, in one such instance, WITN, thanks to this new addition, now airs SEVEN STRAIGHT HOURS of local and national news every weekday (12:00-7:00pm). 1
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I have another sports deal for ya. This time, FanDuel and Gray are giving you 10 games of... the Cincinnati Reds. WXIX and RESN are the main channels for it, but Charleston-Huntington (WSAZ/WQCW), Lexington (WKYT/WKYT.2), Louisville (WAVE), and Nashville (WSMV/TNV-SEN) also plan to air the package, with additional markets to be added soon. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/fanduel-sports-network-cincinnati-reds-partner-with-wxix-rock-entertainment-sports-network-gray-media/ 1

I think they would be alright going that route, and do the simulcasts on their various stations. 1

Except... they've started it as a FAST channel (that's available online plus Roku, Fire TV and other places). It airs news plus docs from various Gray stations. Local News Live from Gray Media 3
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 WBAY is dropping Catchy Comedy from 2.6 next Monday. Don't be surprised if new station WMEI from Weigel picks it up. https://www.wbay.com/2025/03/25/wbays-subchannel-26-going-off-air/ 1
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'm sad to hear this but after a 33-year run at WCAX, Gary Sadowsky has retired and Jess Langlois is the new Chief. https://www.wcax.com/2025/03/21/so-long-sadowsky/ https://www.wcax.com/2025/03/12/say-it-aint-so-gary-sadowsky-gets-ready-retire/ 1

TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 How about some Major League Pickleball? Gray Media will be offering that too! TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 To me, Gray and local sports are a thing. I'm surprised there hasn't been a Gray Sports division by now. Regardless, here's another new one, and this Rose has its Thorn: KPTV/KPDX and the NWSL's Portland Thorns. https://www.kptv.com/2025/04/16/fox-12-launches-new-partnership-with-portland-thorns-fc/ 1

Megatron81 289 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Maybe Raycom Sports just has a better name and legacy and Gray may not want to rebrand it. 1 1
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I know Gray usually has something going on with Telemundo, but could they be working with Univision as well? They just launched Univision Lake Charles on KVHP 29.4. 1
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 It looks like WTVY has taken up the last 10 or so minutes of their weeknight 10pm news in favor of... First Alert Weather Extra. No, this is not a separate half-hour program like WBRC or a weekly program like KWTX, its included into the weeknight 10pm news and for a small market like this, it works considering they find enough content to fill the time. 1 1
TheRolyPoly 2627 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I just noticed this on their Facebook page. The font looks different and no CBS eye. KWTX might be the next with GrayONE soon so keep an... eye... on them (see what I did there? ) 1 1
Howard Beale 90 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Gray has a job opening that may suggest the company might pull a TEGNA and consolidate its creative services marketing departments. The job opening is for a video editor/producer for Gray Creative Group, which “handles the marketing and content initiatives support for all Gray-owned and operated TV stations.” I’m not 100% convinced that Gray will pull a TEGNA here. When Gray bought out Meredith, the company had to rebuild the local creative services departments that Meredith eliminated in a “make ourselves look better to prospective buyers” cost-cutting move prior to the buyout. It makes me wonder if Gray Creative will just fill in gaps at local stations that can’t hire marketing producers. 1
