The name is fine... if it was a lifestyle type show.

Still think these following names would work:

FOX Charlotte

FOX 46 News

46 News

Queen City's very own FOX46.

Waiting on the call letters to change to WQCN

Let's give it a few years before we render a decision. Y'all gutting this before it even happens. You don't know what research was conducted or how this will play. You only have your suspicions. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt because I know long it can take to grow a brand and the layers involved.

What? You mean this board is having a major overreaction to something before it launches? Impossible.

I agree with you. Personally, I like the name. Will it work? That remains to be seen, but such a big rebrand isn't cheap. They'll either stick with it for as long as possible or it'll fail and they silently dump it.

They did take their sweet time with this... so I hope I am wrong and it does well.

It's creative though being a Spectrum town I wonder if people will confuse it with being a Spectrum 1 like outlet (not as personality driven, lots of repeats of stories) - might be more differentiated if there wasn't already a Spectrum 1

Tough spot to be the 4th network cast in a town that already has a 24 hour cable news channel although maybe the opportunity is in declining Spectrum subscribers as people move to the streaming apps that feature local broadcast stations

I liked their newscast before this - good personalities and storytelling style - but apparently that wasn't enough

Isn't "Queen City" also a nickname for Cincinnati?  That could confuse people.

Yes, and other cities that had that nickname as well, such as Buffalo, Bangor, Springfield, Manchester (New Hampshire) and others.

Queen City News is not the only time a station has had a news title that had a nickname, far from it; WPXI Channel 11 (NBC in Pittsburgh) had a similar title in 1980 when it was WIIC (Steel City News)...

Cincinnati is not a Nexstar market (it's a 3-way race between Hearst, Sinclair and Scripps), so for them, why care?

You're forgetting Gray (they own WXIX), so it's actually a 4-way battle. I see your point about Cincinnati & Nexstar, though......

I think this might be stretch. Yes, both cities are called the Queen City but I don't think any viewers will be confused. There's "Eyewitness News" in Los Angeles and New York. Does that confuse people?

Not if citizens of either city never knew it beforehand.

Not that they'd care much if they did.

That's a no-no! WQCN is an LPFM in Richmond, Virginia.

No, but do both cities have the nickname of "Eyewitness City"?

That's not a bad logo! However, now WJZY could get in trouble for using government logos.

Jeez. While the logo with the city's name looks great and inviting, the initialism isn't... well, the Queen's English. If I lived there, I'd hate to have that represent it, me and the other residents, even if it's supposed to be innocuous instead of provocative.

I am getting waaay off topic. Is that even a thing anymore? We have WUPX TV and WMOR FM here in KY and both exist as WUPX FM and WMOR TV in other states.
