And if they made the postseason, WOR-TV would have faced the same issue WGN-TV was staring at, and that WTBS did deal with in '82. So MLB did this to codify their broadcast partners (ABC and NBC). A straight money grab. NBC lost millions in ad revenue by how the 1983 LCS's were structured as WMAR aired local advertising, O&O WMAQ, at least O&O KNBC had Scully in their back pocket, and the signal of O&O WRC reaches Baltimore. In Philadelphia, viewers probably turned to Harry Kalas and stayed away from KYW. Had WGN been able to televise the 1984 NLCS, viewers would have probably tuned to Harry Caray over Don Drysdale. We're talking one market here. And perhaps WMAR and NBC worked it out so that network promos scheduled during the game broadcast were made-good after the pre-emptions. Viper550 270
Yep, Sportsnet can do local postseason broadcasts now. And also ESPN used remote production for the Toronto/Seattle and NY Mets/Padres series, with Toronto using an "enhanced world feed" production piggybacking off Sportsnet a la 2020 (but with on-site commentators/other crew members). Georgie56 3176
World Series Game 3 postponed to Tuesday. WTXF and KRIV will have a big programming decision to make on Thursday, considering both are Amazon TNF affiliates and the Eagles and Texans play on TNF this week. Well KRIV could shift one to sister station KTXH (most likely TNF) but WTXF will really be the one that's screwed by this. We shall see...
