goldnst 3 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 A few weeks ago, the weekend newscast was broadcast from the news room. They stated that they were doing construction on the set. They returned to the studio the following Monday. Since then, the weather anchor is usually on the green screen. The sports segment is now from the newsroom. The weather center, video wall, and the 4pm set is no where to be seen. Honestly, I don't even know if they are still in the same studio. Maybe a set refresh is in the works?
goldnst 3 Posted October 27, 2022 Author Posted October 27, 2022 abc30 is teasing "A new chapter starts tomorrow at 4" in a facebook post. Maybe the unveiling of their new set or new graphics. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=705137740474557
24994J 5621 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Solid look, and much needed upgrade, from first impression.
sfomspphl 498 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Station video here https://abc30.com/abc30-action-news-brand-new-broadcast-studio-state-of-the-art-set/12386568/ The logo on the beam above the desk is a nice touch - you don't see that kind of masthead branding much on these ultra mod sets anymore, and it's a lost opportunity. Having a logo or masthead of the newscast name on the top of the shot, above the anchors, elevates the brand.
FiveNews 378 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Looks like the little brother version of the current KABC set.

MidwestTV 1239 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 The Anti-News Desk in Corner League on here is going to love it.

That’s the Anti-News Desk in Corner with Endless Monitors League to you. And you’re right, I think it looks great. I couldn’t help chuckling at them making a giant story out of it though. It’s “revolutionary” and a “new era of news” because they can change the color of the lights and there’s a big TV and everything. Sheesh, it’s only a set News must be slow in Fresno.
CircleSeven 1960 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 They should've gotten this set in 2015.

KFSN is the farm league for ABC's O&O group, so they don't get a ton of budget to play with. The last set was nearly 16 years old and only received a minor update for the station's HD conversion.

Oh no, I totally understand that aspect of it; my point was that stations in general give an undue amount of attention to what are essentially house decorations. The set itself looks great, and it’s long overdue, but stuff like this doesn’t really need a 2 minute package on a newscast IMO. But that’s just me.

KFSN can't afford new design concepts.
