Georgie56 3318 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 (edited) NBC Sports California has hired Jenny Cavnar as their new Athletics play-by-play announcer. She becomes the first female lead play-by-play announcer in MLB history, and only the third in the four major leagues. Edited February 13, 2024 by Georgie56 4
A3N 1002 Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 D'Backs sticking with MLB to produce/distribute their telecasts. MLB will also produce & distribute select Spring Training & regular season games for the Padres & Rockies this season. These ventures will be branded with MLB's .TV moniker... i.e. Padres.TV/Rockies.TV/Dbacks.TV MLB has hinted at plans to bring their own league-controlled DTC venture which would take over the television distribution rights for at least a dozen teams in 2025. This is expected to occur once the television rights of clubs affiliated with Bally Sports are reverted back to their respective teams.

Good decision to go with the MLB, considering Altitude won’t do crap because they “aren’t owned by Kroenke”.
Georgie56 3318 Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 The MLB-produced Rockies broadcast moved the scorebug to the bottom-right, just like Fox.
HSV cheesehead 101 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 So will Bally Sports be involved with the MLB this year? I know that they are out of the southwest.

Yes, they have recieved a tentative investment from Amazon that *should* keep them afloat through the 2024 mlb season
CoopInTheHouse 73 Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Fubo announces (on March 12) that MASN will begin to be carried on the TV service.
JTT 113 Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) Has there been any update as to if peacock renewed their deal with mlb to show games Sunday mornings/early afternoon? Edited March 24, 2024 by JTT
Georgie56 3318 Posted March 26, 2024 Author Posted March 26, 2024 Looks like the end of ESPN’s tenure with MLB is coming sooner than later. 1
Viper550 292 Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Not many new graphics developments on opening day. Except Bally found a place to show the pitch type now.
CoopInTheHouse 73 Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 A pretty big roast for ESPN on the scoreboard tonight in the Cubs v. Rangers game is a “win probability” for both teams, which change after key moments in the game, like a Adolis Garcia homer or a RBI single for rookie Wyatt Langford and UPLOAD COMPLETE. BOOT-UP CHANGE. Uh, sorry about that. Anyways, here’s a photo:
Viper550 292 Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Missed this during Spring Training (especially given that our Sportsnet carried the PIT feed on this game), but Sportsnet Pittsburgh has unsurprisingly commandeered the NESN Red Sox graphics too. The only difference being that the blueish tint on the NESN version was made dark grey like the Bruins/Penguins graphics. 1
Georgie56 3318 Posted April 15, 2024 Author Posted April 15, 2024 Longtime Yankees radio voice John Sterling is retiring, effective immediately.

Made official today--Red Sox vs. Cardinals, this coming Sunday (5/19) at 1:05pm Eastern; Chip Caray (Cards TV play-by-play), Will Middlebrooks (Red Sox color analyst), and Alexa Datt (Cards dugout/field reporter) will be on the call for this Sunday's game. It'll be the first of 18 telecasts, and all for free. Pregame shows will start 15 minutes prior to first pitch, and postgame coverage will be roughly the same length. nathannah 2493 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 (edited) On top of the self-inflicted NBA nightmare, WBD has now lost their previously-held Spanish rights to MLB to Univision, which will now air games (including the ALDS and ALCS) on Vix, Univision, TUDN and UniMas.The NL side for the playoffs remains with Fox Deportes this go-around. It'll also simulcast Game 1 of the World Series with Fox Deportes. If you recall from previous years they used CNN en Espanol and TruTV to do so with no adjustment of graphics into Spanish and their 'promotion' of the game availability was limited to the perfunctory 'Spanish presentation on (network)' mention at the start. So even if UNI just uses the default MLBN package it'll already be at a Fox Deportes level of presentation compared to TNT Sports' brush-off. Edited August 16, 2024 by mrschimpf
