It is distinctive...not my cup of tea but the overhead bulkhead gives it some depth and gives the effect it's a larger space than it is. Elements that add depth and dimension to shots have been missing from a lot of designs the last 10 or so years as screens proliferated so nice they gave that some thought here.

It's a decent set.. but there's waaay too much openness behind the anchor desk...  not to my likings, but overall not too shabby

Not awful, Tega is usually not bad. But broken record...too barren, not enough furniture. At least the entire set isn't the video wall.

 

The anchor desk shot is reminiscent of MSNBC and the 2014 Today show set. Seeing the entire set in the background of the main desk.

Kind of crazy that they've kept the "bones" of the old "newsroom" set all this time, and that this new set is entirely within what was the "newsroom"... I wonder what they'll do with the rest of the studio.

Well beyond time they got a new set and I say this was well worth the wait! It matches Florida and Jacksonville well, it's not super edgy like WJAX or WFOX but it doesn't have to be. It's honestly refreshing in this market! I love the wood and warmness of it and how much it relies on other elements other than video walls and not just the same tired trends like graphics or repeating stuff but using woods, the logo on set, the bricks, the overhead, a different floor patterns. Very unique to see a curved video wall, and honestly, that might be the best part, it's something few newscasts have used here in the states local or national, and for a market like Jacksonville, I'm all for it! Hope WXIA will get something similar.

I wish KUSA's set was this bright and large. Since DBL is ending, maybe 9 will move their set over to the DBL studio, which, I think it larger? I could be wrong.
