east-tx-tv 124 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Radio Insight is reporting that CBS News Radio will be closing down May 22. Another sad day for US media. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/343855/cbs-news-radio-to-shut-down-in-may/ 1 2
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 And it looks like NBC News Radio is being offered as a replacement (posted via LinkedIn from Matthew Keys of The Desk).
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 A CBS News Radio piece on Sunday Morning as its final day is ever that much closer. (btw, CBS News Radio's final day is May 22nd, one day after the last Late Show with Stephen Colbert). 1 1
Georgie56 3661 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) WCCO 830 is leaving CBS News Radio one day early today to flip to ABC News Radio at 3pm CT. Edited May 21 by Georgie56

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Now it makes me question who will carry CBS' last newscasts if Audacy stations are dropping it a day early. Also, it sounds like NBC News Radio is not getting the traction it wanted to get. The biggest beneficiary? ABC. At least it sounds like it. Yes, FOX has a lot of affiliates too but aren't getting the big ones like ABC has.

FiveNews 481 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Going to miss the CBS stations "ding" which denotes the top of the hour. I listen on KNX Los Angeles. 1

Seems like a lot of affiliates are flipping early due to the Memorial Day holiday. They know a low-listenership period is coming over the next four days, so they probably want listeners aware of the changes now. You’ll probably have to search around for a stream of an affiliate that plans to see it to the end tomorrow. Also, KNX, KMOX, KCBS and WTIC have all flipped to ABC this afternoon/evening. And now we know that all Audacy news/talkers and all-newsers who carried CBS have switched over to ABC today. It will air for the next five years under a new deal. Also, this note from this article... Quote (KCBS in San Francisco and another station in Los Angeles that uses the same call sign will be required to change them in 2037 as part of the sale.) I know its off-topic from this, but that means KCBS San Francisco and KCBS-FM Los Angeles will have to change their callsigns in 11 years. That's from the 2017 sale of CBS Radio to Entercom, now Audacy. https://thedesk.net/2026/05/audacy-cbs-radio-stations-move-to-abc-news/
J.W. Rodriguez 28 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Does anybody know of any stations that still have CBS News Radio until 11pm tonight? I have a friend that is trying to record the final broadcast and it seems that a ton of stations have already dumped it, most of them in favor of ABC News Radio.
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Despite already switching to ABC earlier this month, WTOP will carry CBS News Radio's last newscasts at 11:00 and 11:30 p.m. tonight. https://dcrtv.com/wtop-to-carry-final-cbs-newscasts/ DCRTV also has the final edition of the CBS World News Roundup from earlier this morning. https://dcrtv.com/audio-the-last-world-news-roundup/
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 CBS News Radio has officially died after nearly 100 years in operation. WTOP did carry their final newscasts, and I listened to them live. This YouTuber recorded it, and its here for you for historical preservation. Long live CBS News Radio. RIP.
swaggyboi128 3 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Oddly enough--and I don't know if this is related but I'm assuming not--but the former flagship of the network, now WHSQ in New York, is currently off the air.
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 The Takeout on CBS News 24/7 has been looking back at memorable moments from CBS News Radio's nearly a century of broadcasting, and here's a marathon package (90 minutes worth) of those moments.

NBC licensed “NBC News Radio” to iHeart back in 2016 and they are the ones that take care of everything. https://www.nbcnewsradio247.com
