Action Newsroom 1376 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Here's an article you can actually read: https://www.reuters.com/business/iheartmedia-holds-merger-talks-with-sirius-xm-bloomberg-news-reports-2026-04-24/ I don't know what to say about this, but this M&A thing is getting out of hand.

I kind of figured iHeart getting an increased stake from John Malone was going to be hinting at this. Radio is already down in the dumps and this will push it down even further.

SiriusXM stock is down 60% since 2023 Iheart down 73% The alternative is selling them for parts assuming anybody wants them. Though radio had more of a chance to survive due to podcast popularity

HanSolo 467 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Economic realities are what they are, and they aren’t pretty. Mergers and acquisitions may not be popular but they may be all that keeps some entities afloat at all, even for a comparably short period of time, because the old world is never coming back. 2
tyrannical bastard 4676 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 This is like a Sears and Kmart merger. Bonus points if Eddie Lampert comes aboard to run it all (into the ground). Iheart is a joke and SiriusXM's saving grace is all of their receivers in new cars and trying to sucker in subscribers with a low introductory rate and making it next to impossible to cancel when it goes up to full price. 1
Megatron81 343 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Not surprised that IHeart & SiriusXM will maybe mergering the old way of radio isn't coming back. The IHeart radio station that comes in clear is Star 105.7 & B93 out of GR. Star's rival for many years was 106.5 they were the same format, but they've changed formats so many times at Midwest since 2006 and I don't know who won the ratings. The blowtorch in Kazoo is 103.3 WKFR and it isn't even close B93 only beat WKFR a handful of times in the 90s, which B93 is the blowtorch in West Michigan for country music and for a couple of decades had a B93 Birthday Bash in June which ended a few years ago.
