A3N 1002 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 WMAQ has a sneak peek at the new websites that the NBC O&O's will eventually use. From the picture, the website looks a lot cleaner than the IB System sites. Oh and it looks like the website will be branded as NBC city name. i.e. NBC Chicago Slideshow... http://www.nbc5.com/slideshow/news/17567505/detail.html
caliwxdude 254 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Makes sense... I have thought it's extremely odd that KNTV still directs people to "NBC11.com" even though the station has been known as NBC Bay Area for almost three months now. Any departure from an IBS site is a welcome change, IMO.
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 WOW i didnt see this when i posted mine in the Chicago board. O welll.. It will be intersting to see how many of the stations roll out the new designs. If it will be faster than the new O&O graphics look.

SterlingNorth 33 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Interesting that NBC already purchased NBCMiami.com even though they sold the station to Post-Newsweek. I'd prefer that over the "Local 6" they probably would use.
puck2008 0 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 In a related note... http://www.knbc.com/slideshow/news/17662690/detail.html nbclosangeles.com, anyone?
News24/7 3 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Its official, i just saw a promo on KNTV about the new website. http://www.nbc11.com/slideshow/news/17662734/detail.html
first on fox 18 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Its official, i just saw a promo on KNTV about the new website. http://www.nbc11.com/slideshow/news/17662734/detail.html When was this ever 'not official"?
News4LA 0 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 In a related note... http://www.knbc.com/slideshow/news/17662690/detail.html nbclosangeles.com, anyone? Interesting that nbcla.com works too. Over the years the website has gone from nbc4la.com, nbc4.tv, to knbc.com. Hope nbcla or nbclosangeles is the last change for awhile.
SterlingNorth 33 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Broadcast and Cable has more information on the sites, including the launch dates for each. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6604891.html After today’s Chicago launch, new sites go live in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco on October 16; in Dallas, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. on October 20; and in New York and Hartford on October 27. Oh yeah -- NBCChicago was launched today.
Que 73 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I don't think nbcdallas.com is a good branding for the whole DFW area. KXAS isn't even in Dallas, they are in Fort Worth.
A3N 1002 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 I don't think nbcdallas.com is a good branding for the whole DFW area. KXAS isn't even in Dallas, they are in Fort Worth. Interesting because a TVNewsday article says that the new KXAS site will be nbcdfw.com but when I typed it in, nothing came up.
Jess 1116 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 The new site is... interesting. There's a lot of content on it, but it still seems quite hard to find things. I like the idea that it's more of a news aggregation thing as stuff points to the Sun-Times and national papers as well as the site. I also find it odd that they're moving in the opposite direction as far as video goes. So far, I can't find any.
SFTV 532 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 the stories lined up side by side remind me of my cover flow on my iPod
hopdevil 1 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 NBC promoting Good Morning America? Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Slide #3 here: http://www.nbc11.com/slideshow/news/17662734/detail.html Slide #2 here: http://www.knbc.com/slideshow/news/17662690/detail.html
jero23 105 Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 The new site to me looks blah, but I guess that is the point of everything shiny and new.
Link 3 Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I can see updating the websites but not changing the domain names...NBC 5 in Chicago has been nbc5.com for as long as I can remember and I'm not about to type in nbcchicago.com--too long. Luckily nbc5.com still works too. Just like I'm sure viewers in Washington DC know WRC as nbc4.com and it's much simpler than nbcwashington.com.
SterlingNorth 33 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Looks like they're slowing down the rollout. October 21s and no new "NBC Washington" or "NBC Philadelphia" websites yet.
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I don't NBC Philadelphia will be launched until WCAU unveils its new HD studios.
Jess 1116 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 The old addresses redirect to the new... most sites that get name changes do that. I still type in "fox29.com" since I'm too lazy to go to "myfoxphilly.com"...
SterlingNorth 33 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 NBCWashington is live. So is NBCPhiladelphia.
SFTV 532 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 The old addresses redirect to the new... most sites that get name changes do that. I still type in "fox29.com" since I'm too lazy to go to "myfoxphilly.com"... I still type "kfmb.com" instead of "news8online.com" (which only lasted for a year) then now changed to "cbs8.com" and then theres "kswbtv.com" which is fox5sandiego.com heh
Sam Horn 78 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 All of them are up except WNBC's And WVIT's nbcconnecticut.com. I'm imagining nbcmiami.com is on indefinite hold. For fun, wonder how long this has been in the works as you visit nbcprovidence.com, nbccolumbus.com, and nbcraleigh.com.
