newswatch 1 Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Oh, and Let's not forget... The Atlanta Symphony's rendition of the WAGA Eyewitness News theme by Eddie Horst. This theme was for when WAGA became owned by the FOX Network in 1994 after years of being a CBS affiliate owned by Storer Broadcasting.

Ntropolis 600 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 615 Music: USA News, Aurora, Battery, Newswire Frank Gari: Hello News, X2 FirstCom: Production Music-Action News No, no, no. He means news themes that were performed by a real orchestra. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3xUN-cnlWU I'm pretty sure some of the packages you listed have themes that include synthesizers...
Dave Lampstein 135 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 No, no, no. He means news themes that were performed by a real orchestra. Example: I'm pretty sure some of the packages you listed have themes that include synthesizers... You would be correct. Maybe some of those use a mixture, but they're not all TRULY SYMPHONIC. I wish I could find it now - I used to have video of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, as led by former Tonight Show band leader Doc Severinson, as well as their chrous, performing Hello Milwaukee back in the winter of '04. It was amazing.

milklikesubstance 11 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 NBC Nightly News - The Original version for Tom Brokaw, and the updated version for Brian Williams, of the longest-running theme since 1985 - The Mission (NBC News theme) - done by John Williams (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, JAWS and Superman) Or even about something more recent: the NBC 2008 election theme (also John Williams)
Ntropolis 600 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Or even about something more recent: the NBC 2008 election theme (also John Williams) This theme was first used in 2004 and is by Michael Karp, not John Williams.
News24/7 3 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 That theme is MIDI too. On that note the WNBCPack's main theme is a full orchestra
southernmedia 0 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 That theme is MIDI too. On that note the WNBCPack's main theme is a full orchestra (Actually, the strings are synth and doubled up to give them a richer sound.)
Aaron Gant 1 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 615 Music Tower V.1 - all live strings and brass Impact V.4 - all live strings and brass many others . . . .

scranton 23 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 CBS Enforcer New Generation - Series III (the WCBS AM theme)
stevieboy247 43 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Palmer News Package - Phase I (the cuts that WCBS-TV first used back in '85) WCAU's NBC 10 News Theme by Eve Songs (now that was symphonic!)
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Palmer News Package - Phase I (the cuts that WCBS-TV first used back in '85) I'm pretty sure some of the PNP cuts used by WCBS were synthesized.
Leavellebrett 85 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Bumping an old thread, but oh well... http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/#3,1,1648 THIS. Thanks, Altoona Symphony Orchestra!
Leavellebrett 85 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 The KTVF News Theme (http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/#3,1,1691) I talked to the composer. He works in creative services at KTVF and he presented it to the local orchestra and got to conduct the open and close. Everything else he uses keyboards for, as far as bumpers and such.
ToriElectra 292 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 What about WCBS's 2000 theme, Grandeur? Hell, they even used it as a prize cue on The Price is Right back in 2007!
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 "First News" by Non-Stop. Some of the cuts from this that WDIV used during the Newsbeat era seem to have quite a bit of synth in them to me.
NYNewsCoverage 310 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I just discovered this thread, and I guess we can put the revived WPIX custom package on the list that they debuted last month. They use a very symphonic version of the theme:
