Okay, am I the only one that thinks the music is actually half decent? It has a catchy sig, and there appears to be variations. The more I hear it the more I keep thinking it's a Gari pack...?

Also, WEWS is one of the few Scripps stations where the new look is an arguable improvement. Their old stuff was hideous.

Although if they're centralizing I wish they took the opportunity to fix that ugly WEWS logo. Especially since WPTV has the correct version.

Hmm, forgive me, but I actually like the WEWS version. The Squares in the package remind me of WMAR's package actually. I am kind of eager to see WMAR...of course my affiliate is last. lol. But I am not surprised...who knows with WMAR, with their constant budget and personnel cuts, maybe they are cutting the newscasts in general...(ok, maybe that that extreme, but when your ratings are that bad, it's a thought!)

I like the logo the way it is. They brought it back in 2007.

Back to the music and the graphics. They are now growing on me, like Gannett's a while ago.

Well, yeah they brought back *a* circle 5, and it's better than the non-descript box logo they decided to adopt. But they didn't need to redraw it. The 5 looks deformed and malnourished - they didn't need to add an angle in the part of the 5 and thin the logo out like they did. I think they did redo the logo with the centralizing but it still doesn't look right.

WMAR launched a new evening news team and premiered the new (so-so) graphics today.

Yeah, 5:30 pm anchor Terry Owens and evening anchor Mary Beth Marsden left the station (buyout) but at least they got to say goodbye on air, both is on their site, abc2news.com. I like how Terry sums up his farewell the most.

I never thought that Scripps would join its fellow Station owner groups in the station-centralization trend. But now since that happened, I guess it's now to complain about the graphics/music change on its stations, especially here in Detroit's WXYZ. Why did you do it Scripps, why, why, why?????!!!!

The same reasons some of the other station groups have standardized their looks: to save money on operating costs as much as they can. If the economy remains bleak, we could probably expect more groups to join in on this trend.

I had always liked the old graphics that WCPO had used, but I think the Scripps graphics are alright. The real loss was the music. The new Scripps music is a huge step down from 615's Right Here Right Now, which WCPO used to use. As far as WPTV goes, I think it looks pretty awful with their logo and brand that they have created. I believe the concept for these graphics came from ABC Action News, and it seems to work nicely with their branding, as it does with other stations, especially WCPO, as it blends with their logo and their set relatively well. If you look on Renderon's website, you can find a montage of the graphics concept for the Scripps stations, and it looks substantially better that what shows up on TV somehow. I think it's the fonts and the lack of the awful music. Anyway, it's a shame that Scripps mandated the music in addition to the graphics, as Scripps ownership had always made WCPO one of the leaders in the Cincinnati market, but this certainly wont help.
