News24/7 3
NBC Bay Area's Jessica Aguirre announced Friday that KNTV will be getting a "Sleek Modern Brand New Set" within the next month. By her description it sounds like good ol' Clickspring might be the designer? In the mean time they are broadcasting from a very tight temporary set possibly in the C studio. C Block 1566
I hope they keep the newsroom backdrop. I always liked it. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/7006-kntv-new-set/#findComment-63558 Share on other sites
News24/7 3
I do too, HOWEVER... Since they essentially laid off all of the people that work in the news room, there isn't much to see anymore other than the automated control room in the background. Perhaps we will see more news operations, such as KNTV and WNBC, stray away from newsroom studios within the next few years. I'd assume the studio would be part of the change, and seeing as this is supposedly going to set the precedent for the rest of the local operations, it will be interesting to compare the studios when they both get their respective updates. Many stations have laid off so many people that the newsrooms are virtually empty during morning and late newscast times. WFLD doesn't do reports from the newsroom using the newsroom itself as the backdrop for that reason. WMAQ has decorated many of the empty desks in their newsroom to make them look like they're being used since the newsroom is the main backdrop of their tower studio. News24/7 3
Their [KNTV's] current, or now former news desk wasn't made for 16:9. They had to rotate the set at an angle so it all fit in the shot. Hopefully they'll get a "real" Weather Center set instead of a cubicle with some TVs and a logo banner Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/7006-kntv-new-set/#findComment-63622 Share on other sites

News24/7 3
That's still the temp set, right? Yes, as matter of fact, it looks like it's the Telemundo 48 studio with a temporary wall blocking the view of the newsroom and the messy CNBC studio equipment. Here's the studio when KSTS uses it. caliwxdude 254
Ran across these photos posted yesterday on the Today in the Bay Facebook fan page of anchors Brent Cannon and Laura Garcia-Cannon rehearsing on the new set with their twins in tow: Surprise... it looks like a Clickspring job. Also it appears that the studio has been reoriented so the anchor desk faces the newsroom, opposite from the old design. The first picture is taken from the newsroom looking into the back-right corner of the studio, where the chroma key walls used to be. Looks on target for launch at the beginning of February sweeps.
