MediaZone4K 2662 Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 With Tom Llamas taking over NBC Nightly News I'm thinking back to when Brian Williams was at the helm. I really liked his narrative style, especially in his anchor intros. The show has truly not been the same since he screwed himself. Shame. I really liked the broadcast from CNBC HQ during the 2008 financial collapse especially the shaky hand newsroom shots. 1
TVLurker 389 Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 I don't really think Brian Williams screwed himself per say. He was moved to MSNBC and left around the time politics and journalism became perverted and sensational. I know he did stuff for Amazon during the election, the most important question is why would he go to Amazon who was partially responsible for getting Trump elected via The Washington Post not endorsing either candidate? And I know Amazon is a division with a bunch of companies owned by Jeff Bezos. He left MSNBC on his own terms though and is still presented and represented as a legendary journalist at NBC News. If you really want somebody who totally screwed himself over. Look no further than Matt Lauer who is persona non grata at NBC. The day after his last show was basically the news anchors of Today at the time talking about his firing over sexual misconduct. There are still videos up featuring him on the official Today channel but aside from that, NBC News does not mention Matt Lauer at all, only reluctantly because Matt is a large part of the Today's show history from 1996-2018. Almost 3 decades of content that features him. I don't think anybody misses Matt anyways. YT comments that mention him are either pounding on him for his treatment of women or semi-nostalgic for his tenure. I say semi-nostalgic because I haven't anybody say that The Today Show needs Matt back, they just like those days when Studio 1A actually had people in it. 1
TVLurker 389 Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 (edited) I don't know if posted but here's the last newscast for CHCA-TV which includes behind the scenes on their VR/AR set that they were using prior to being the first Canadian TV station to shut down and give their license back to the CRTC in 2009. This gives you insight on what CBS' VR/AR sets are going to function like. VR/AR sets have been commonplace in Canadian TV for a long time, we're at the point where US TV is getting a taste of what has been going on in Canada for 26 years. Edited June 11, 2025 by TVLurker 1

LTSC1980 130 Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 YouTube recommended this video, it’s WISH-TV rewinds the day they lost CBS affiliations and “going independent.” They would eventually become the CW affiliate after they disaffiliated and CBS moved to WTTV. Honestly when I saw that title I thought they will disaffiliate with the CW because now that Nexstar is moving CW to their own station. 1

tyrannical bastard 4676 Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 (edited) My uploads have entered this period on my Youtube channel (@TVAndStuffYT) Several one-offs from a cross-country trip in 2008 that had stops in Columbus, Ohio; Charlotte, NC; and Charleston. WV. Also, some stations were beginning to go HD so I have the first newscasts from WEAR, WPMI and WKRG from those dates. These were on DVD and mini-DV (which is a little riskier 20 years later. One tape was already eaten, but it's something that should be on YouTube otherwise (Ted Henry's last show from WEWS). To record on the road, I had my GL2 camcorder and one of those LG converter boxes with a directional UHF antenna. I forget how I was able to get analog cable into it, but I had to pivot to it in Charleston when I encountered major reception issues with WVAH. I have another batch of newscasts from 2014 from Mobile/Pensacola...those are on a DVR but still recorded in SD. Stay tuned! Edited December 14, 2025 by tyrannical bastard 1
tyrannical bastard 4676 Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 12 hours ago, Classic Cars and Cartoons said: I have a question for you, how do you convert these news broadcasts from your VHS/Beta/Betamax to DVD in High Quality High Definition for your YouTube channel? Did you brought them from Amazon or Ebay? I have a combo VHS/DVD recorder that has an HDMI output to an OSEE video switcher with an SD card recorder. For my SVHS tapes, I have a separate S VHS VCR that plugs into the S-video input. There's also a firewire input that I can input my mini DV tapes from my camcorder. I also have a separate Magnavox DVD / HDD recorder that has certain content on it, it also has an HDMI output that I can output to the switcher/encoder. The DVDs are mostly able to be encoded through HandBrake (in SD), but for anyone that have to be played back manually I run them through the same VHS/DVD combo or whichever DVD player I can get them to work on. The only drawback is any of my 4x3 content is stretched to 16x9, so I have to go into Adobe Premiere to correct the aspect ratio back to 4x3. Any of my HD content that was recorded in SD is already in 16x9 so I don't have to correct the aspect ratio when I edit it down. 1

LinCruzChicagoNYLA 33 Posted May 15 Posted May 15 KMSP-TV News promos (April 2010, clip at 8:00) Tom Butler made their rookie debut at Fox 9, and he has been for 16 years as morning anchor. Even Keith Marler was still as a meteorologist in the mornings. On the evening side, Ian Leonard was still the king of Twin Cities weather. Robyne Robinson was later running as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in the state on Minnesota, forcing her station to remove in the next month in order to run for Lieutenant Governor. 1
LinCruzChicagoNYLA 33 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago So Indonesia based Youtuber Indonesia Broadcast Archive HQ has occasionally uploaded full broadcasts of newscasts from US cities and national newscasts.
