Eat News 4745 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 That man is Yves Mourousi, he anchored the 1pm news on TF1 for 13 years (1975-1988) Wee Wee to that!
stevieboy247 42 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 You heard WMAQ's version of NBC's 'Come Home To The Best' campaign from 1988 on TVPMM, now video of the promo has been posted on YouTube.
WWUpdate 1292 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Staying in the Windy City, here's a long compilation of WLS news promos from the 1970s: I believe these are all the work of famed Chicago commercial director Joel Sedelmeier.
Samantha 2902 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The worst tape quality I've ever seen on YT... EVER. KDLH, 1989:
Ntropolis 599 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The worst tape quality I've ever seen on YT... EVER. Can't tell if it's a bad tape or if they don't know how the tracking button on their VCR works...
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Late rebroadcast of WAVY 11pm Saturday night news from October 1987: Includes a version of the "You're Covered" promo and the station signoff at the conclusion of the rebroadcast. Also, what was up with the abundance of fuel company ads in the late 80s? Looks like there are a couple other 1980s WAVY videos on that channel (literally just ran across that channel about 5 minutes ago) 1986 WAVY Promo (Don Slater; who it looks like had not too long ditched the mustache he had early on): 1986-ish WAVY Daily News Promo (Weekend Team): Also noticed in the video you linked to that about 30 minutes in; someone accidentally slapped a Proud N peacock just before the sign-off.
Ntropolis 599 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Also noticed in the video you linked to that about 30 minutes in; someone accidentally slapped a Proud N peacock just before the sign-off. In this 1984 signoff, the script is nearly identical but with a different voiceover. Bad tape quality so I can't see what NBC logo is used. I'm assuming it's the same Proud N peacock. My guess is it was originally produced around 79/80 with the Proud N peacock, and they updated the station logo and voiceover every few years but kept everything else the same.

Amazing find.
Samantha 2902 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 ...And it might not have been his biggest failure, either. Here's a look at WGXA in December 1989 with the WMGC/WBKO theme:
WWUpdate 1292 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 ...And it might not have been his biggest failure, either. The Morning Program on CBS was another famous failure of Shanks's. Of course, his biggest success was creating the first morning show that threatened Today -- the original Good Morning America:
