WAVY 10 Fan 232
Late rebroadcast of WAVY 11pm Saturday night news from October 1987: Includes a version of the "You're Covered" promo and the station signoff at the conclusion of the rebroadcast. Also, what was up with the abundance of fuel company ads in the late 80s? Looks like there are a couple other 1980s WAVY videos on that channel (literally just ran across that channel about 5 minutes ago) 1986 WAVY Promo (Don Slater; who it looks like had not too long ditched the mustache he had early on): 1986-ish WAVY Daily News Promo (Weekend Team): Also noticed in the video you linked to that about 30 minutes in; someone accidentally slapped a Proud N peacock just before the sign-off. Ntropolis 593
Also noticed in the video you linked to that about 30 minutes in; someone accidentally slapped a Proud N peacock just before the sign-off. In this 1984 signoff, the script is nearly identical but with a different voiceover. Bad tape quality so I can't see what NBC logo is used. I'm assuming it's the same Proud N peacock. My guess is it was originally produced around 79/80 with the Proud N peacock, and they updated the station logo and voiceover every few years but kept everything else the same. WWUpdate 1290
...And it might not have been his biggest failure, either. The Morning Program on CBS was another famous failure of Shanks's. Of course, his biggest success was creating the first morning show that threatened Today -- the original Good Morning America:
