It's good to see you back on YouTube (though I thought you were going to be "WAVYSpirit" for some reason).

Can you reupload the ABC promos (non-sports)?

Will ASAP.

War in the Gulf, as seen in NZ.

These are from the incredible collection of user Nighthawk006 at YouTube. Nighthawk spent days compiling, editing and uploading hours of continuous coverage of the war. In New Zealand, the networks drew extensively on the resources of their American affiliates, notably ABC on TVNZ and NBC on TV3.

If you'd like a 3x bigger screenshot, I guess just ask here and I'll put it up. I have each screenshot and row in 'YouTube size' but not the whole wallpaper. Note a row that "starts with ... and ends with ...", I'll post it. A YouTube search is another option.

As an aside, this is so like how it played in Australia, with CNN eclusively on Ten, ABC/CBS/ITN on Nine and NBC on Seven.. oh and ABC/BBC on, uh, ABC!

A 1982 WHAS-TV "Action 11" open with MCTYW, fires, and cops... a classic "Action News" open! Throughout the video, there are four different cuts of Hello News, which would later become the main news music package for WHAS in 1983.

Another gem from Ray (videoholic2008, et al.) with a 1984 morning news cut-in from WPLG, featuring my favorite voiceover (who has been identified as Thom Allen, but I can't confirm so he's still Post-Newsweek Man to me), the TuesdayC theme and a sign language news interpreter. As usual, lots of gems in the user page.

Two closes from the 1980 WFMY "Action Center" era with the vastly-underrated "It's All Right Here" theme, also used on WTNH, WLKY and KBTV (now-KUSA).

KHJ (now KCAL) also used this theme in the late 80's.

This is not the same theme. Frank Gari composed the theme that KCAL and three Gannett stations (KUSA, KOCO, and KTHV) used in the late 80s and early 90s. The one refered to in the WFMY video is from an unknown composer.

WJZ News Open from 1991 (Rarely seen Open):

That theme has been around for a while. So, I wouldn't consider it to be "cheezy!"

Chroma Cues isn't cheesy. WJZ has used it for over 20 years and I think it's better than some of the 615 crap.

I'm not from B-more, but I find the Chroma Cues news theme very cool, considering it was written by Bruce Upchurch (writes jingles for JAM, JonesTM and did a news package for WRC-TV)

Sorry but I agree with Channel 2 here. That package is cheesy and to add to that, smooth jazz and news don't mix well. Some time and rarely it mixes well but not this case.

I don't think Chroma Cues is cheesy... it's actually very classy as in this open:

classy? yeah, um, you're joking, right...!

I suppose the CBS News theme and The Mission are cheesy, then..
