So WXIA was already using the new logo and the new Gari theme (and the Alive-less "11 News" moniker) at the end of '93? I know this is a NYE broadcast with Auld Lang Syne as the closing music, but would it be safe to assume they had also dropped the Hello News v.1 close (which was still in use on the 11pm newscast earlier in '93)?

There's also

from late summer '93 touting the early-evening lineup for the coming fall - notice the presence of both the "11 News" graphics, and the older 11 Alive logo at the end. So I am guessing that the Gari theme debuted with the new graphics and name in fall '93 (meaning that both Wikipedia and NMSA are off by a year in dating "11 News" and the Gari custom).

If only we had more 11 Alive footage from '93 (especially September-December)...

I wouldn't post an EBS message under normal circumstances, but this one's pretty chilling: it's from the LA riots of 1992, announcing expanded curfew boundaries. KCAL's presentation of the whole thing, over aerial shots of buildings on fire, is also peculiar:

A WTHR newsbreak from 1994, still with the Hello package's 90s updates:

WDIO/WIRT 10pm open, 1990, The Leading Edge. Complete with sponsorship tag right in the open!:

WANE full 1987 newscast. Corinthian-era logo plus the WLOX 1990 theme, previously unknown for WANE:

WLOS full 1987 newscast. With the music of locally-based VTS Productions, "Count On":

The matching 6pm open also shows a Turn To ID with the then-new look. Interesting combo:

A KDFI "Texas 27" news break from 1985:

10 minutes of WLEX news from 1985, no open but there is a short close:

WHBQ 1979, Weekend Report:

WEVU, a show called "Lunsford at Large" featuring John Lunsford of the Naples Daily News. The music is production music, "The Winning Instant" from Killer Tracks:

Continuing with the UCSF collection...

WRGB noon & 6:30 with a theme I don't recognize, 1987: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_ctw27a00

Noon news from D.C. and Baltimore. WBAL's Great News/Pride Inside combo, a new cut of The News Leader, and a short open with WMAR 1985 are featured. 1986: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_qhx27a00

WFSB 5:30 talent open, 1992: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_xqy27a00

WFSB 5:00 open, 1988: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_ccx27a00

WXYZ 5:00 PM, followed by...WGPR NewScope! 1986: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_ohx27a00

WBAL's 5:30 Live with a new cut of what sounds like the Great News/Pride Inside combo, along with clips from WUSA (generic EWN open), WRC (new cut of the 1986 theme), and WTTG (nice model flyover with the Metromedia theme). 1986, I think: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_shx27a00

I found that WGPR theme as well. It is quite something to have WGPR material. Easily the rarest stuff in there. And we've found WPTF with Great News and WBMG, so we're not exactly talking a low bar.

The WRGB 6:30 theme is new to me, but the noon theme is a cut of what they were known to be using at the time (the WLNE theme).

Just found this from Mike Barnett's channel. This came from April 26, 1986 in which the (soon-to-be-completely-demolished) HHH Metrodome roof tore during a Minnesota Twins-California Angels game.

Coverage from WCCO; WUSA (now KARE) and KSTP; with some fast-forwarding from a brief snippet of an ESPN SportsCenter (Chris Berman and I think Gayle Gardner)

The same YouTube channel includes a 1990 KTSP open and a behind-the-scenes tour of the station -- does anyone know what the theme is?

BTW, note how similar KTSP (top) and KTVK (bottom) looked in the early 1990s, when both stations were "big 3" affiliates. This is especially interesting considering that they looked completely different a few years later, when the former became a Fox O&O, and the latter an independent:

More UCSF. Asterisks denote new (to me) themes/cuts:

WESH 12 PM, 1989: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_lnp91f00

HUGE reel from 1989. WFSB, KYW, WPLG, WLVI, KCOP, KUSA, KGO, and WTOG all make appearances. Highlights include a new WFSB theme, a "hybrid" KYW open (watch and you'll see what I mean), a sloppily edited KCOP open (or is it a sloppily edited tape?), and Tampa Bay Tonight with Centerpiece (perhaps they flipped directly from this to the early 90s theme?). https://archive.org/details/tobacco_var91f00*

KGTV's Inside San Diego, 1988: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_xty27a00*

KMBC 6 PM, 1987: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_cww27a00

WDAF 6 AM, 1990: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_tvx27a00*

WDAF 12 PM and 5 PM, 1992: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_ery27a00

KSDK Midday AM, 1983: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_nkw27a00*

KSDK 6 AM, 1991: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_oxx27a00

KSDK 6 AM, 1989: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_uox27a00

Also, a ticker

can be briefly heard in this KTVI clip from 1988: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_xxw27a00

"America Today" -

INFO: The theme heard in the clipped opening is "It's All Right Here" which was used on stations like WLKY in Louisville and KPNX in Phoenix. It incliudes the Gannett closer at the end.

I have never heard of the show, but it looks to me like this was a short news program that aired during the 1980s on all of Gannett's television stations including WLVI in Boston.

Gannett may well have used these on their stations, but the Deathstar created "America Today" primarily for use on Public TV stations, one of which, the former WUCM-TV (nee WDCQ-TV) used it over their air, (I know I was a student at Delta College at that time).

This tobacco archive clip has been online for quite awhile, but I don't think it has been posted in this thread...

Fragments of KTVK and KNXV from 1996, a little more than a year after the affiliation switch, including parts of news opens: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_hny27a00

This 1988 compilation contains fragments from several Phoenix and Tucson stations, but no opens: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_www27a00

(And pardon my obsession with the Phoenix TV market; I used to live there.)
