Yeah they’re doing a somewhat significant construction project to the outer facade of their building though I haven’t walked by there in a few weeks.

I consider that a shocker too, considering that Hubbard WPB has been renewing contracts with some of their radio shows down here, including my all-time favorite radio show... The KVJ Show on 97.9 WRMF. And for the first time, they renewed for the next FIVE years, meaning they'll be on until 2031 (32 years on air, 17 years on WRMF when the next contract ends). https://radioinsight.com/headlines/358386/kvj-show-extends-with-wrmf/

Looks like Studio M is being used again and there was no redo. Probably the building construction outside 1211 Avenue of the Americas made tv noise too loud. The Studio E set makes no sense and looks tacky. That beam is an inconvenience. FNC used to design amazing sets. At least it’s not as bad as the Fox News Deck.

94 episodes isn't enough?

This feels like it's more targeted towards a normal viewer that just cares about regular shows like General Hospital, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, High Potential, 9-1-1 or sports and their local news, which is exactly who you want to advocate for you in bulk because they lose their shows, the FCC chair will get that anger for sure. It's a perfect line that doesn't feel angry in the ad, just saying 'we're just as perplexed about this as you are and you should write in and speak your mind about this'. There is an entire audience that just watches the local news summarize the events and never gets into ABC's national news or The View.

As far as radio ousters go in Minnesota, this one was a bit unexpected... KSTP-FM/Hubbard has shown Staci & Hutch the door. Staci Matthews had been with the station since 2003 when "Moon & Staci" launched. Hutch joined in 2019 after Larry "Moon" Thompson retired. No real word from Hubbard other than contracts were not renewed, and on the search for the next great afternoon show. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-lifestyle/staci-hutch-ks95s-afternoon-radio-show-will-end

Tina Nguyen has decided to leave WFLD/Fox 32 in search for her next 'role, city and adventure'. Nguyen is just the latest high profile departure at WFLD following the retirement of Sylvia Perez (less than two weeks ago), the loss of Paris Schutz and Lou Canellis to WMAQ and the firings of Roseanne Tellez and Scott Schneider.

I’m gonna tell the fcc to knock it off I’m doing it on behalf of WTVD. This is very serious no tv license has been cancelled before it rarely happens.

Ohhh, that's right, I forgot! I NOTICED THAT! I am SHOCKED! When they did the last set, the set they are taking down now was immaculate! This set, it's just ALL OVER THE PLACE! And the weather set? They are running off of a laptop and half of their equipment the normally use to track storms. Wth?

Im probably going to get some fallout from this post, but im going to go ahead anyway.. According to what I've read, there is basically a zero chance that these stations are going to be off the air if nothing is done. These stations collectively, are the most watched in the nation and highest rated stations in arguably this part of the world. They've set the standard and culturally defined how we watched local news today. So I respectfully do not understand their unnecessary inflammatory drama to confuse the public. Honestly this is the issue, all of this public alarmist method of communication these days is what is strengthening the division and clash. Respectfully, they are entitled to voice their concerns for sure, but is it really that serious enough? Can someone help me understand what their intent is behind all of this?

I'm still amazed that given the relaxation of ownership rules that there are still only 8 stations in the group. It's like a throwback to earlier times when the 7-7-7 rules existed (AM/FM/TV).

The Disney/ABC O&O Stations Thread
tyrannical bastard replied to Encore 323's topic in Corporate Chat
It's sad that we've come to this where the ABC O&Os have been vilified by our current FCC. Maybe in a saner time, the same should happen to Sinclair and Nexstar, who have done far more egregious things in front of our eyes, often on a daily basis.- 7 replies

If this madness was not going on, this thread would definitely not be here but regardless of what has happened, I feel that enough happens at the ABC O&Os nowadays for this thread to logically be here, so I am thinking about the present and the future here as you clearly see.

General threads are not permitted, anymore, HOWEVER, the FCC stuff is enough to probably warrant its own thread.

Public comment has opened up in the O&O early renewals. We can discuss those further in that new thread.

Bill McDonnell started following The Disney/ABC O&O Stations Thread

The purpose of this thread is to have a place to discuss anything relating to all of the 8 Disney/ABC owned and operated stations because even though things may seem quiet across the group, things are still happening beyond what is discussed in the individual WABC, KABC, WLS, and WPVI threads that are in the NY, LA, Chicago, and Philly threads respectively. ——————————————————— As you probably know by now, the licenses of the ABC O&Os are being threatened by the FCC and the deadline is July 29th, so the stations have been rolling out call to action promos, so that viewers can advocate for each station on the station’s behalf. Here are promos from WABC, KABC & WLS. WABC: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ePkAFvaEiAg KABC: https://youtube.com/watch?v=R0wEyMOfNwM WLS:

It saddens me that CBS is increasingly expanding this idea of VR studios. The standard implemented in Los Angeles, Denver, and Chicago would be great for their O&Os.

It has aged well for a set, over 11 years. It will be interesting seeing one of the AR/VR sets for KDKA, if that holds true. In the report at 4pm, Barry Pintar did show off that one of the video walls was removed as they prepare to renovate Studio A.

You know what, that set aged WELL!
