  1. Past hour
  2. Not sure how much audience Drudge gets these days, but it's front page there. Wonder how the media trade pubs even picked it up to begin with. Nothing remarkable when watching it other than the choked up delivery. And wow those parallels to Dale's goodbye. Guessing though the only people really noticing the coverage are people like us with an affinity for the media biz.
  3. As you may have seen for the past week or so this promo has been circulating on KDKA that BIG EWS is coming TODAY at 4 pm. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/196Vw2qatr/ Well, Barry Pintar from the KDKA TV News at Noon broke the news that today's news at noon was going to be the last newscast in the main studio for a couple of weeks due to some MAJOR UPGRADES. From what I've heard, KDKA will be GUTTING the studio and become the next AR/VR CBS O&O set. GeneralTV discussions Sorry, I wasn't able to get the announcement at noon, but I will try and get the announcement at 4pm today. TVfan merchandise GeneralTV discussions
  4. Did he really lift Dale’s goodbye? Are you serious? What a weirdo. His goodbye was bizarre too.
  5. Today
  6. Linda Cohn is retiring:
  7. Wow! I didn't think about that! He must have looked around Youtube for TV anchor goodbye speeches and landed on that one!
  8. Did he at least pay Dale Hansen royalties for ripping off his sign-off from WFAA? Dale Hansen: "Television has to be more than sitcoms and cop shows. We need to take people out of their bubbles and their safe places, and make them think about the world we live in. It is the only thing I've ever really wanted to do." (2:28) Dustin Nolan: "We as a local news station have to be more than trends or sanitized news, because it makes people feel uncomfortable, that's what the facts matter and that's why we do what we do here. We have to take people out of their bubbles and comfort zones and make them thing about the world we all live in." (1:07) Dale Hansen: "If you don't have a Denny Livingston in your life, I strongly encourage you to find one. He makes dreams come true." (2:37) Dustin Nolan: "If you don't have a Jenna in your life, I suggest you find one. Because she makes dreams come true in every way another human can't." (1:50) Dale Hansen: "There will be no more TV tomorrows for me, so for everyone who has been a part of this one, and all of these 41 years, I'm Dale Hansen, and I really do thank you for watching. Goodnight, and good bye." (3:45) Dustin Nolan: "There will be no more TV tomorrows for me, so for everyone who has allowed me to be a part of their morning, I really do thank you. Good day, and good bye." (2:22) Hansen did it all without crying. Just saying.
  9. NBA TV as well
  10. I think the 'ABC style' of news is starting to filter down to local stations (the institutional reporting is stuck online, too many 'viral video as news statement enough' or junk news) is what I notice here, especially with Gray's house style seeming to go towards vaguer notifications and more irrelevant time spent having to filter through comments sections or post for the sake of posting. I think that is a problem, where local news has to soak up reporting that used to be done by Inside Edition, ET and Access, and now has a lot more group features and has a newspaper 'house style', like Gray with Aging Untold and their SSB contest, or they try to keep local authorities happy.
  11. Yesterday
  12. It's been rebroadcast a lot on MSG Network.
  13. Two folks from KFSN Fresno are packing up their bags and leaving for new opportunities. This includes longtime sports director Stephen Hicks who's last day is this upcoming Friday, June 26th. https://thebusinessjournal.com/abc30-sports-director-stephen-hicks-reporter-gabe-ferris-to-depart/
  14. Did he phrase/execute what he said perfectly? No. Absolutely not. Holding back tears and reading off the teleprompter rarely goes well. But I interpreted it as a "this is a job where we have balanced the mix of reporting the uncomfortable stuff AND the fluff." But there's a web story, and video on literally every station social media platform. If this was a quit in protest, it would not be memorialized like this. Dude is probably just fed up with the alarm clock from morning hours. Also, in 2026 it is smart for a married couple to diversify employers and not rely on the same broadcast/media company for paychecks and health insurance.
  15. This got picked up by several trade outlets and the NY Post. Not sure where they got the 'in protest' part - he made a vague reference to not doing 'sanitized' news, that they stick to the facts, and that he won't be in TV news in the future. His wife is his coanchor, whom he married during his tenure at KWQC, though not sure that's where they met. He worked for another station in the market prior to KWQC. https://www.thewrap.com/media-platforms/journalism/iowa-anchor-chokes-up-quits-news-station-in-protest/ Here's the full clip https://www.kwqc.com/video/2026/06/19/dustin-nolan-says-goodbye-after-years-waking-up-quad-cities-kwqc-mornings/?outputType=amp Cyle Dickens one of our valued contributors here is their assistant news director, I'm guessing management is surprised by the interpretation as well.
  16. Last week
  17. Channel 55 re-airing the knicks parade with an "ENCORE PRESENTATION" on the ticker itself
  18. Christina Watkins is leaving WESH 2 and getting out of the TV news business... boy haven't we heard of that before. She's going into the marketing / communications space but away from the daily TV news grind. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2119045555676946&id=1373986347881479
  19. At 01:57, Liz Cho's reaction segment the Monday after Bill's Friday Alzheimer's announcement. As shown in the video, Bill & Liz's first broadcast together Sunday, July 6, 2003. I had always assumed this video was of them permanently taking their slots, but didn't realize it was from a weekend. As for who replaces Bill, I would go with either David Novarro since he already anchors with Liz at 4, or Sandra Bookman since she only does one show at noon.
  20. Update on Pat Battle. Her first post since about last year, in reaction to the Knicks victory. She's rocking a shaven head, with no context around that. Multiple Instagram comments express support and say they're rooting for her. Ms. Battle has shared multiple times on the air that she is a breast cancer survivor. Whatever she's going through right now, apparently cancer, all the best to her.... she's literally got fight in her last name
  21. Could you imagine if Fox owned a bunch of classic movies? Wouldn't that be something? I feel like a Comcast-Roku deal would be a non-starter from a regulatory standpoint, even if our current president didn't have it out for Comcast.
  22. Spin what? That companies like Disney routinely send people off into the unemployment line with the bare minimum required by law? Find us one average joe no longer able to work, someone far less compensated than the lead anchor at WABC, and let us know the job that was carved out for them.
  23. I wonder where that show would air, if it does happen. The CBS O&Os don't seem to have room on their schedules (KYW would have to either move Drew Barrymore or get rid of a newscast). It could go on the sidecar stations, but that wouldn't be good for a show like this. I also wonder if it would be a standard hour or if they would use the half-hour Drew format.
  24. I see that WMOR is adding FBI Most Wanted weeknights thisfall. Anyone know if there are any more off-net shows coming?
  25. Bill's first report post the anchor desk in his new role. He's already hitting the ground running with this. Glad to see him remain present in some capacity. He talks to Maria Shriver about her father's battle with the devastating disease.
  26. KABC/KGO wish they could get this "Circle 7" variant back!!!!
  27. Yeah that old KABC/KGO 7 logo could've been a fluke or a technical issue, or something they quickly needed to edit in, also if you notice the font and even the colors doesn't match its a weird font and the circle 7 is weirdly stretched so thats definitely not a permanent thing.
  28. The logo looks stretched but I’m not seeing the graphics issue. Those look like the standard weather graphics.
  29. Is it me or is that logo a bit stretched...also they can't get their own logo? It's right there!
