Especially if both stations were going to adopt the same name they might as well have simulcast. Through the industry, having spoken to a producer at that shop, their logic is that WBBH is their headlines newscast, and WZVN is their in depth "thinkers" newscast. IIRC, the producer said they maintain separate operations due to their distinctive audiences. Where are WZVN's morning anchors now?

To be fair, though, KOSA has been known as First Alert 7 for a good chunk of the last year or two. It also went under CBS 7 First Alert News before that, so its not a total surprise here. -

This seems to be the first time in a long time that a broadcast network will be publicly owned independently of a subsidiary. I'll have to follow up with a friend of mine, high up in management at Versant if she thinks the cable networks and NBCUniversal will remain separate.

It was a matter of time before this happened and honestly surprised it took Hearst as long as it did to do this. Any competing against yourself at the same time newscast (with the possible exception of a duopoly producing separate english and spanish language newscasts) is living on borrowed time with current revenue and viewership across the industry. As for WBBH and WZVN, there is some history of simulcasting morning news: they briefly dropped the ABC morning news and simulcast NBC at the worst of the great recession in 2008-2009.

Any thought of having Liz, David, and Sandra each anchor two shows between Noon, 4pm, and 6pm? Essentially Sandra would be adding airtime. I think keeping Joe where he’s at currently makes most sense. Is Mike in contention? I think longterm the goal should be two afternoon/evening anchor teams. One at Noon/5pm, the other at 4pm/6pm/11pm.

Was just coming here to ask about this, and found that you noticed it too. From a cost-effective/practicality standpoint it makes sense to fully simulcast instead of two separate news operations in one newsroom and requiring reporters to do separate live hits for two separate stations. Unfortunately that would result in the layoffs of producers and possibly anchors. If they ever fully unify, GCN would join their Florida *counterparts at First Coast News and Action News Jax in unified news operations.

Ahhh. I see what they did. They're using a South Florida-generic website to cover both WSFL (The Spot - South Florida 39) AND WHDT (The Spot - South Florida 9). If you go to Where to Watch, it covers both stations but uses a generic The Spot - South Florida logo without the channel numbers. Now, we'll wait to see if "KDF-TV" will do the same or not.

News regarding The Spot... Scripps has launched a new nationwide website for its Independent brand. This comes as WNPX launched on time as The Spot - Nashville 28 today, pushing ION to WTVF 5.2. Also, WMYD has rebranded as The Spot - Detroit 20, and even WSFL has rebranded as The Spot - South Florida. This leaves "KDF-TV" out of Corpus Christi and WHDT in WPB as the last two that have yet to adopt The Spot branding.

I saw Kiyana Lewis filling in for Ari on FOX Weather At Night on Wed which was good than just air Park'd which they aired on Thur as they didn't air FOX Weather At Night.
