  1. Past hour
  2. Reminders of final day today for local news anchors: • WRGB's Liz Bishop after an amazing 52-year run. The special half-hour at 6pm will be her last. • NBC's Lester Holt (already mentioned in another thread). • KCTV's Carolyn Long after 28 years. • WDBJ's Jean Jadhon after 33 years. I can't think of more but get those recorders ready for historical preservation on YouTube.
  3. I saw this on X. If this is any indication, we could be on a verge of a HUGE major rebrand for RTVE Spain, the first major change to happen since 2008. Stay tuned...
  4. No this is not Effra -- it's definitely the font used by the new Cox graphics package that just came out
  5. JUST FOR REMINDER: After taking the role as a anchor and managing director a decade ago in June 2015, tonight will be the last day of Lester Holt anchoring NBC Nightly News.
  6. Today
  7. This is the 7 day forecast graphic. It looks pretty decent me thinks.
  8. The current music is rather... lethargic too. I really miss Inergy at this point. This music won't fit everywhere if thats the required opening cut. Maybe there is something better in the package. These graphics look pretty good though I hope they keep the concept of the transitions featuring the station logo between stories. It was a nice touch. I am glad to see there are no text bubbles or crazy flying boxes or other insanity this time.
  9. 4pm- Samantha Cortese and John Fenoglio 5pm/6pm- Cher Calvin and Micah Ohlman 6:30pm- Micah Ohlman 7pm- Cher Calvin and Micah Ohlman....same team for 10pm/11pm.
  10. I look forward to resounding at length... it's been a long day for now. Bachatcha soon .. thanks!
  11. You read that right. KWQC commissioned it (thanks to Cyle Dickens' help nonetheless) and will debut on June 10th.

  12. Cool, what was the story / process / inspiration that got you to that arrangement? Pretty iconic, nailed the newsy urgency and authority with some ebbs and flows. I remember it being used for many years.
  13. The openings looks good. More generic white box L3s graphics (yawn) but definitely an upgrade from their current flat blue rectangle L3. It looks like a better version of WPIX's mid 2010s package. I think the lower third would look better if the "Right now at 5:00 subject line" were blaced above the white box not within it. I like the depth on some of these graphics such as here. The curves remind me of the ABC O&O graphics. Can't wait to see these on WPTV.
  14. What’s the anchor line-ups for KTLA News at 4, 5, 6, 6:30 & 7?
  15. Yesterday
  16. Thousands in NY, NJ to lose access to NY1, News 12 in cable dispute. It appears Spectrum is going to drop News12, and Optimum will drop NY1 effective 6/30/2025. https://gothamist.com/news/thousands-in-ny-nj-to-lose-access-to-ny1-news-12-in-cable-dispute
  17. I honestly don't think anything can save CBS at this point nor the parent company as well. Skydance or not, Shari Redstone has dug a grave deeper than the one Larry Tisch dug prior. There is no savior coming to rescue CBS. Westinghouse doesn't exist anymore and I don't think any people from the Westinghouse era work at CBS anymore. To think that CBS' resurgence was all because New World, Scripps and others got group affiliation deals with their respective networks. Funny that Scripps (the only one still out there that his history with the 1994 affiliation swap) is on the brink of extinction as well as CBS. Just goes to show that the short term is not going to be as beneficial in the long term.
  18. I like it. The "Covering Hillsborough County" graphic reminds me of Hearst stations, so it must be the same font. That said, the audio in the video clip makes it sound like the music is rather....lethargic?
  19. The design has VividZero/Defiant vibes ?
  20. The popularity of franchises is a big part of why CBS has so many law-enforcement-related (or what some people call "copaganda") shows. You may be right on there not being many comedies on the network; in fact, I only count four for this coming season (Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Ghosts; The Neighborhood, and the premieres-this-fall DMV). The problem there is that there are only so many hours in CBS's primetime schedule, and with most of that time taken up by the aforementioned dramas and reality shows, something's getting short-changed. The easiest solution would be for CBS to reclaim Saturday nights for something other than reruns and episodes of 48 Hours...but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  21. I can't wait until WXYZ gets this package
  22. Definite upgrade -- looks like the font from the Cox graphics package
  23. Wow he's come a long way since reporting traffic on the radio - He was the first person to report on the 9/11 incidents.
  24. It is amazing how far both Viacom and CBS have fallen as companies compared to their peaks in the early 2000s. If you compare the channels now to then, you would see a drastic difference in both the effort put in and how they treated their respective channels legacy and history. CBS has always skewed to an older audience but the shows they're airing right now are ridiculous, almost every drama they air ties into law enforcement in such a way that it would make right-wing America proud. There are barely any comedies on CBS anymore and one of them is just a continuation of The Big Bang Theory cause franchises sell. CBS sports only has college basketball, golf and their prize possession the NFL. That's a far cry from when CBS sports had more going for it and that's 20 years ago. NFL is also the most expensive sports package there is and I do not think Paramount Global is smart enough to even realize that. There's short term financial benefit in not having the NFL but that is small compared to the huge losses of losing the NFL. There have been nothing notable about CBS News since 2016. CBS Evening News has burned through more anchors and gone through more creative changes than both ABC and NBC's respective evening news programs combined. Gayle King is the most notable name they have and it's from the morning program that they put more attention to than any other news program on CBS. 60 Minutes has also gone downhill when CBS News took over the program a few years ago. There was a time when it was it's own independent division within CBS, to see that gone is heartbreaking. Tradition, values, legacy and integrity don't matter at CBS any more. To the beanheads, it's just a brand just like Nickelodeon is a brand. Off topic but I really don't like how Paramount is going to ban episodes of South Park not because they have the prophet Muhammed in them but because they focus on topics like LGBTQIA+ of which somehow has become as controversial as the prophet Muhammed. I don't think Trey Parker or Matt Stone care at this point, they haven't even said anything about Elon Musk who actually voiced himself on the show. For a show that prides itself with saying things people don't have the balls to say, they've really not said or done anything that's really out there at this point.
  25. While a bit generic, the graphics are an upgrade from the Powerpoint package they've had. I'd be interested to hear what other cuts the music package has because that one was quite underwhelming and forgettable.
  26. Comedy Central's schedule consists of The Daily Show (when there's a new episode), South Park, and reruns of sitcoms you can watch in multiple other places. Meanwhile, MTV has multiple channels that are barely watched, such as MTVU, which is apparently both alive and defunct. They may as well call that one Schrodinger's MTV.
  27. Even sadder if they cave towards the Trump administration by "bribing" them the 20 million dollars in his frivolous lawsuit against their news coverage. If that happens, CBS may as well be done for as a credible network and news organization. Even though ABC caved as well, Disney is in far better shape overall.
  28. Better than the current Scripps package! Would be nice if local markets can customize color though... I've always associated WFTS with reds and whites, not blue.
