The same is true for Studio A (Live with Kelly & Mark), Studio B (View/Tamron), and Studio 4i (WNN/GMA First Look). Part of the Channel 7 studio floor is also made of LED. The new ESPN studios (Studio 1 and Studio Y) have traditional floors.

Broadcast networks are going to likely show their restraint during the daytime. If it's live, then the president should know better and no station should be penalized for a fleeting remark of his. Cable news is free to broadcast it as they please since they're not subject to FCC guidelines. They just show restraint with the "7 deadly words" but can air them. Even some of the movie networks like IFC are starting to air uncut movies with the profanity intact.

In case you were all wondering why the fast track to get CBS out of 1515, we know now; Paramount is trying to get out of the lease so Caesars can put a casino in the building.

Assuming they receive a complaint at all, they can “investigate” it until no one cares, which in today’s world is about 7.1 seconds. They don’t need to do anything unless they see an opening to needle someone they deem antagonistic to the dear leader and feel like they can make said antagonist a scapegoat. Under no circumstances would they criticize the person who uttered the words in this scenario. But were it to be uttered by anyone on the enemies list, rest assured they will spring into action at the first complaint received. If they even wait that long.

Not here to debate the President’s use of the F-bomb, but don’t we have audio delays on live coverage for this very reason? Linked CSPAN, but scrolling TikTok, other news outlets aired the word uncensored as well. how does the FCC handle a violation by the guy who appoints them? v15044gf0000d1d8pcvog65muqnu3v3g.mp4 v24044gl0000d1d8dkfog65vdh5rj7mg.mp4

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
MediaZone4K replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
In his blog, Frank Macek, a Senior Broadcast Director at Tegna's WKYC, questions the relevance of local network affiliations. Despite his expected propping of his station, interesting points were made. https://wkycdirectorscut.blogspot.com/2025/06/franks-take-do-local-tv-stations-still.html?m=1- 3704 replies

Jeff Hogan teaming up with Yolanda Harris makes good business sense, because Jeff had been on 10TV since the late 90s. Good move to 10TV.

This is a reminder that the newest Independent television station (the first of three, coming within a two-month span) begins next Tuesday. Yes, WFTS' chief now has his own program, moving from streaming to weeknights at 7:30 p.m. Other weekday highlights in this TL;DR version include (according to TampaBay66.com; forgive me for this list, but its to drive a point to showcase a little mixture of everything for WXPX starting next week)... A live simulcast of WFTS' 4:30-6:00am, 7:00-8:00am (already done by streaming), 9:00-10:00am, hour-long noon, and half-hour 7:00pm newscasts. A delayed rebroadcast of WFTS' half-hour weeknight 6:00 and 11:00pm newscasts by 30 minutes (6:30 and 11:30pm, respectively). Some Scripps News programs, mainly in the morning (The National Report at 6:00am and the Morning Rush at 8:00 and 10:00am) but also in the afternoon (Scripps News On The Scene at 4:00 and Happening NOW in America at 5:00pm). Tampa Bay's Morning Blend gets a double dose of airing, just like WFTS (11:00am and 12 Midnight on WXPX as opposed to 10:00am and 1:07am on WFTS). The Jason Show from KMSP-TV Minneapolis will make its Tampa Bay debut at 1:00pm. The only syndicated programs that I see, outside of primetime, are Inside Edition (6:00pm), ES.TV (11:00pm), and Sports Wrap with Jason Page (1:00am). Oh, and don't forget, Tampa Bay Lightning games in the fall, too. That's why WXPX will become what it is: The Spot - Tampa Bay 66.

KWGN's slogan should have been "2 the Deuce. You can't polish a turd." Back to WFNA.... It was one of the few non-Tribune stations at the time to de-brand their CW affiliation with their newly minted (at the time) call letters. On paper, they were W F(lorida) aNd A(labama). The logo was a big "W" with the "FNA" inside. The slogan.... FNA baby! (Like the term f-in A) This was done under LIN when it was co-managed with WALA. Thankfully, They pulled the plug in 2012 and it reverted to CW branding as CW55. At some point either late in Media General's tenure of the station or early Nexstar, they went back to "Gulf Coast CW" , their original brand pre "WFNA". It definitely serves the market better as a WKRG sister station as opposed to a WALA one, because it gives WKRG a duopoly partner. Media General "kept" WFNA in the LIN merger and had to "divest" WALA to Meredith, even though the opposite happened operationally by WFNA being shifted from WALA to WKRG.

After Midnight canceled; CBS leaves 12:30am slot
Hometown News replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
Big Brother at least is understandable on paper since it's cheap summer filler in timeslots that would otherwise be used on reruns or other cheap filler, the show's format necessitates multiple episodes per week, and unlike what they've done with MasterChef in Australia where they'll put it on in consecutive days, BBUS' episodes are spread out throughout the week. Of course, the show's been allowed to become so stale, predictable and childish over the years that they're now grasping at straws for content to fill three episodes with most weeks. Just another symptom of CBS' decline.- 68 replies

I guess I'm an outlier, but I like this set a lot. It is cavernous, but I think there are a lot of retro nods. More set pieces might be a good thing, though. About the floor: is it "real"? It looks like it wants to be wood, but is way too glossy for that. Is it a massive screen?

Went to KMGH. Was ousted when Scripps bought them and subsequently kicked GM Byron Grandy to the curb. Grandy served out a stint at a few Nexstar stations before returning to GM KDVR|KWGN and brought Becker back with him. Becker is doing the job he was never made for - Micromanaging, blindly listening to SmithGeiger, and spending stupid amounts of money for a new set that didn't need to be replaced. Becker doesn't know how to move the ratings dial at all.

Update Just like all other big-name journalists recently (i.e. Jim Acosta, Joy Reid, Don Lemon, etc.), Jorge Ramos is going independent as well. He recently launched a Substack and has launched a new program, Asi Veo Las Cosas (This Is How I See Things). This is the first episode with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.):

After Midnight canceled; CBS leaves 12:30am slot
MediaZone4K replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
Just saw this...Agreed, but I will say, despite being unstable in the mornings and evenings, CBS News has the best quality reporting of the big three. Yes about primetime. CBS barely take risks, it's been police procedurals, competition shows and sitcoms for years now. But I don't blame them for sticking to what works because for years they were the number one network off of that formula for years. Agreed, because CBS News and programming tends to swing center left.- 68 replies

Yeah I was wondering, during the coverage of today's events after the special report, the quality of the set seemed different, so that probably explains it.

That problem shows up on CBS during the summer with multiple nights of Big Brother. Heck, it could probably also be blamed for the hilariously-inappropriate-for-CBS Love Island.

And spinning the wheel for today’s Special Report, It’s John Dickerson! I’m fully convinced that CBS doesn’t really care who does the cut ins- but rather who’s available at the moment to go on air. You could chalk that up as a weakness since they don’t have that trademark name and voice (read: like Muir for ABC); but I think that says something about CBS’s bench and culture that they’re comfortable running with whoever is ready to go on air at that moment (this time of day, could have also still been someone form mornings so Evenings could prepare for their show)

Hometown News replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
The police drama overload is because of demographics, not politics. Procedurals are for the elderly what true crime podcasts are for Gen X and millennials. Their lineup has only gotten more lopsided as streaming peels away the audience of everyone under 60. They're also a crutch Paramount uses to hide their utter creative bankruptcy. When they don't have that crutch, you have Network Ten's primetime lineup of MasterChef Australia multiple nights per week and back-to-back episodes of House Hunters on Friday. Or Channel 5's parade of documentaries about air fryers and electric cars that all recycle footage from the previous 20 documentaries about them.- 68 replies
