Kingpeytonifx replied to ns8401's topic in General TV
Never in my life have I seen a tv station open a coffee shop wonder what ever stations do this besides the ones seen here -
I was surprised that Freeform was dropped 2 years ago in my opinion from Spectrum Disney XD & Disney JR. should've remained dropped in my opinion.
-
And as this comes into play. Let us reflect on all the NBC 5 sets of the NBC Tower in the last 35 years!

WFLA has a store in Tampa's airport just branding no merch just to get snacks, drinks, books, & mags. Maybe be a few that like WDIV will show up for the morning show and the lifestyle program and get a cup of coffee I don't know if this will work thou. -
Nothing will happen Biden said the F-bomb when Obamacare was passed. I say let the F-Bomb fly it isn't that big a deal in my opinion, and I don't get why lots still get offended by the F-Bomb in this day and age broadcaster should be allowed to have the F-Bomb fly in primetime maybe for 10PM to 6AM that is safe harbor but seems that the broadcasters don't use it for some reason.

Looking pretty good. I’m sure they will be happy to have some breathing room given their current situation. My guess is a November reveal [in time for sweeps].

From the Broadcast Plaza server, here's the first peak at the new NBC-Telemundo Newsroom. The new set is slated for later this year, and I'd imagine this follows a similar timeline.

Per Sandra Torres instagram, she is leaving WMAQ and the industry entirely.

WFAA's 7-9 morning newscast on WFAA+ launched this morning. It doesn't appear to be on KFAA at this time, but that may change. For a station like WWL, it would almost be like a second coming of the newscast CBS took away from them to put on WUPL. Too bad the damage has already been done there as WVUE rules the market.- 3706 replies

Regarding the Greenwood-Greenville market and Deltavision.... This is just one of those places where when one company swallows up all of the assets through failed station waivers and acquisition, the only logical taker would be a local firm who is acquiring the exclusive rights for ALL of the local stations. The only thing that comes close is Block's monopoly in Lima, Ohio and Morgan Murphy's in Victoria, TX. Depending on what happens with Glendive and KXGN, We could start seeing entire markets going under if there are willing parties to make the stations repeaters of another.

Canada, but more specifically Ontario. That was it for TVO's The Agenda. It signed off Friday night after a 19-year run.

The Top 4 rule was written in an era before digital subchannels, and as such didn't contemplate that a station could put two major affiliations on separate subchannels. Such activity is still only owning one top 4 facility, even if having two affiliations widens the gap between given top 4 stations, and I don't believe the FCC under any partisan makeup has acted against this.

Some awesome finds (not specifically newscasts) finally uploaded from an estate sale two years ago. KREM Northwest Gallery, February 18th, 1979. This was a newsmagazine that aired on Sunday nights And CLASSIC 60 Minutes!!!

That was the point and the reason why I said "Not now, of course" because the FCC just wants less regulation for broadcasters.

That was back when the FCC was under Democratic control, before Donald the Destroyer returned to office and Carr turned into his personal attack dog.

It is true that Allen got a little too stupid but its safe to say that calling stations damaged goods isn't exactly what people want to hear/see. So, basically, have them (Nexstar or Gray) have a majority of the potential revenue in One particular area or state by making Allen sell ALL of the AMG stations to them... Then, basically run them as ... [Checks notes.] ...Semi-satellites of existing stations? Deregulation aside, how would they let this happen? And would that actually be fair for the viewers? Also, doesn't the FCC (Not now, of course) make sure that not only the top 4 stations in a certain area can't be co-owned, but also trying to (semi) clamp down on ... for example, a NBC affiliate on 9.1 having a ABC-affiliated subchannel on 9.2? Also, didn't Nexstar stop bulk-buying stations after 2019 with Tribune? Same thing with Gray Media with the Raycom Media and the Meredith Corporation stations in 2019, and 2021 respectively? If they were in the buying mood, they would've bought a lot more stations in 2024–2025.
-
The alternative is having them all go under because no one wants a bunch of damaged or destroyed goods that Byron ruined with his ineptitude and ego. Nexstar are Gray are the prohibitive favorites because they somehow and inexplicably keep getting money to finance their purchases, plus it's no secret that Perry Sook just wants to own everything. It's again the perfect test case for unfettered deregulation by Brendan Carr provided that the buyer is someone he likes, and he likes Nexstar. Run them as rumps of their existing properties. WJRT becoming an appendage of WNEM, WAAY as an appendage of WAFF, etc. It'll cost way too much money for anyone else to bring those stations back up to par in an already contracting industry.

...Even though, yet, Nexstar or Gray isn't in the mood to buy the whole Allen chain. Plus, if the station count and the stations in the area that Gray or Nexstar and AMG have stations in, some of the stations are successful enough that the failing station waiver doesn't work AND, like I mentioned, yet, it won't be approved. Plus, what would they even do with the stations anyway?
-
Deltavision is a company that had for whatever reason a lot of money to incinerate on rapidly declining assets in unfavorable areas. All my money (and all of everyone else's tbh) should be on Gray or Nexstar buying the entire Allen chain under failing station waivers. The FCC sure as heck won't challenge it and it'd probably be the catalyst for unfettered deregulation on their end.

Byron doesn’t seem to last very long at any place he works. Just sayin.

KIMT doesn't do news from Mason City anymore, but today, they did so instead. Why? Its been 30 years since Jodi Huisentruit went missing. Special editions of their newscasts were done from the original building, along with a flower and a picture of Jodi in the background.
