  1. Past hour
  2. I posted this on the Allen Media page but will post it here too WTVA has announced Chelsea Simmons as the Chief Meteorologist.
  3. Speaking of Matt leaving WTVA just announced Chelsea Simmons is the Chief Meteorologist.
  4. Today
  5. Matt Laubhan (or as he better knows as Spann Jr), left WTVA on Monday. He has started his own weather business called Mississippi Weather Live. The storm chasing team that was partnered with WTVA is following Matt.
  6. An absolute fucking shakedown, point-blank period. Even if the cult leader of MAGA is only getting a fraction of what was originally filed, it's still criminal that Paramount/CBS has to give him anything.
  7. Pedro Rivera officially promoted to weekday mornings
  8. More staffing announcements for the soon to be independent MSNBC, including Marc Santia of WNBC moving to MSNBC as an investigative reporter. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/new-msnbc-white-house-correspondents-1236301824/#recipient_hashed=2f7cb34ffeaa3e39a87d758a6ae607df33e2f08d8c096f9b797f49f20b59fc68&recipient_salt=df67624928cc1bda6f060918e6afb0f265976cd8e5e36f75d381be50544f5d3c&utm_medium=email&utm_source=exacttarget&utm_campaign=Breaking News&utm_content=618232_07-01-2025&utm_term=17980216&utm_medium=email&utm_source=exacttarget&utm_campaign=1751378363-Breaking+News&utm_content=618232_7-1-2025&utm_id=618232
  9. For this to be happening in Mississippi State's backyard, Frank Spain must be rolling over in his grave. At least his heirs knew better when they ended up selling to Heartland Media not knowing that Byron Allen would be the next one to get the keys.
  10. Paley, Murrow, Cronkite, Hewitt, Wallace, Bradley all surely rolling in their graves…
  11. Lol these media companies are literally paying him for frivolous claims and tantrums. Absolute jokes.
  12. Well Paramount caved: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/paramount-agrees-pay-16-million-settle-trumps-lawsuit-60-minutes-kamal-rcna216419 A $16 million settlement.
  13. The children's programming violations involved Hot Wheels ads airing during Team Hot Wheels on their defunct KidsClick block, so you're not likely to see something like that ever again, on any OTA station.
  14. As saddening as this is, it's also exciting. He was going to get screwed over by Allen one way or another. I wish him the best. I've been watching his live stream and he seems so much happier as well.
  15. Paywalled, unfortunately, but I checked out the site for his new venture... it looks like Gabe Mahner has left WTVA as well. John Doulsic and Chelsea Simmons will be all that's left.
  16. Heck, with everything going on at CBS at all levels, the dust may not settle on the talent moves until the fall...or longer.
  17. Meanwhile, another slap on the wrist for the latest group of closed captioning, license renewal and children's program reporting violations (they should really fix that; you're not seeing that with Gray, Scripps or even Nexstar); $500,000, which compared to the 2020 $48 million fine is chump change.
  18. BIG, and sadly some likely expected news coming out of Northeast Mississippi. Matt Laubhan is leaving WTVA. https://www.djournal.com/news/local/matt-laubhan-leaves-wtva-launches-own-site/article_54ed7004-77b1-44d6-9659-d38cb5aa6a5c.html I figured it was going to happen sooner or later with the way things are going at Allen Media, but luckily it looks like he's able to do it on his own terms. And is evidenced by other meteorologists beginning to do their own thing, local TV weather may be starting an irreversible decline as the most seasoned are starting to head for the exits and are being replaced by younger, and sometimes distant colleagues doing forecasts from virtually anywhere.
  19. Some management shuffling in Detroit… WJBK GM Greg Easterly is retiring. He had been with the station since 2019. WJBK has parted ways with its News Director, Laura Moore, who had been with the station since 1998 in various roles. They’ll do an internal and external search for a new News Director. WJBK has also eliminated its Director of Community Service position which was held by Katie Fehr who had been there since 1996. Their new GM is Paul McGonagle who had been the VP and News Director at WTTG in Washington D.C. since 2014. https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/television/2025/07/01/fox-2-detroit-new-general-manager-search-news-director/84430915007/
  20. A little bit of a tidbit for everyone. This week is the 4th of July holiday. It's known that employees can take a week of vacation. So wait about a week after, and if Johnson and Quinn are still off, then maybe that'll be where suspicions can be raised a little bit.
  21. *The News Director comes out from the back*
  22. Yesterday
  23. Scott did 5:00, and Vanessa did 6:00 (which is supposedly Scott's show, along with 8:00).

  25. Sunbeam Properties, so yes. Now they have a website devoted to it as well: https://www.sunbeamnbv.com/home EDIT: They've even included a PDF with detailed plans as to what they'll construct in NBV to replace the WSVN complex: https://assets.courbanize.com/sunbeam-north-bay-village/info-plans/5c4f61e19ee3eaf708ee5cb07d1630b9.pdf
  26. I'm sure The Ansin Family owns the property right? They're into real estate so it makes since.
  27. As I said months ago....it's very iffy for Maurice to relinquish his WCBS seat for the unstable CBS Evening News. We initially thought Maurice would stay on at 11 PM, but when they changed him not on CBS 2 at all it was understandable based on the assumption he'd be busy with national duties. But John Dickerson anchors Evening News +, most special coverage, and is typically the between the pair to anchor special reports. All Maurice really does is the 30 minute CBSEN and I'm not sure if he takes a lead editorial role in the broadcast. Maurice & CBS probably have their reasons but perhaps he could have maintained his dual national and local roles. I'm guessing her bio isn't updated, because as I recall Cindy Hsu took over 12pm after her 9am newscast was cancelled.
