  1. Sinclair is partnering with NewsON... http://www.tvnewscheck.com/mobile/index/article/id/91618 Props to them for making this move....considering their awful live streaming taking over some of their acquired "livestream" operations...

  2. Y'know... There's probably a greater chance that the current ABC O&O's get sold to Scripps than it is that the Scripps ABC affiliates become O&O's. Just sayin'.

  3. I can't believe that you are even suggesting such a notion, when the mere thought of Disney buying anything television related - especially any TV stations - has been thoroughly debunked, dismissed and discredited endless times on here. Yes, Scripps is not necessarily the best group owner of television stations out there. But they are not selling out, they are not in a world of financial pain, and - last I checked - none of their stations, even the struggling ones, are in danger of insolvency. Especially to a network, and to a network owned by a company not interested in buying any other television stations, and hasn't since the Capital Cities era**. I could understand if you were posting this wild dream on the Speculatron boards. But not here. It's not happening. No way. No how. DISNEY DOESN'T BUY TELEVISION STATIONS, PERIOD!!! THEY SIMPLY DO NOT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** Even if Disney wanted to buy WJLA, they didn't buy the station because it wasn't sold separately. Think of a girl who you had a crush on that was totally unattainable.

  4. They should take a cue from the recent PowerBall frenzy...retool to "Billionaire" ABC can use some of it's secret Star Wars money to fund it.

  6. It wasn't on-air right? If so, it makes no sense to fire somebody for playing the game BTS.

  7. David Bernard is well known to many South Floridians from his time at WFOR-TV as chief meteorologist, but most recently he returned to his former stomping grounds -- New Orleans -- where he was the morning meteorologist at WWL-TV prior to moving to WFOR-TV. He has recently been the weekday morning meteorologist for WVUE-TV in New Orleans where he replaced Chris Franklin whose contract was not renewed by WVUE-TV and Raycom Media management. Now David will make another move at the FOX affiliate as Chief Meteorologist. He will be replacing longtime Chief Meteorologist Bob Breck. Bob's retirement is effective beginning March 2, 2016 after 35-years at the station. Shelby Latino will become FOX 8's new weekday morning meteorologist. She has worked in Greenville, MS and Fresno, CA and is a graduate of Mississippi State University. Bruce Katz will remain in his current time slots on weekdays and Nicondra Norwood will remain the weekend meteorologist. http://www.fox8live.com/story/30902123/your-weather-authority-prepares-for-the-end-of-an-era

  8. TVNT would like to take this time wish two stations who are celebrating their 60th Anniversary this month. WREG-TV Memphis, TN is celebrating its 60th Anniversary. The Mid-South's CBS affiliate went on the air on New Year's Day in 1956. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/marketshare/2016/01/06/wreg-celebrates-its-60th-birthday/ KTXS-TV Abilene/Sweetwater, TX will also be celebrating its 60th Anniversary on January 30th becoming the second TV station to sign on the air in The Texas Midwest and The Big Country.

  9. Disney has enough to worry about with the pending implosion of the cable bundle, which is bringing down ESPN. They are not a buyer... not now, not in the future.

  11. I'm beginning to think that outside of a few stations most of Scripps properties are too far gone to be saved by ABC... They would require billion(s) in investment across all 16 or whatever stations to bring them up to ABC standards. You'd have to completely scrap most of the personell, the graphics, the imaging, completely swap out all the computer equipment, they'd all need set upgrades, new cameras... Sound expensive times 16 yet? It'd be like taking 2016 car innards and putting them in a 1985 Ford Taurus... You can do it but it'd be a hell of a project.

  12. Which is why Scripps ought to be bought by ABC (who can then divest the non-ABC affiliates to any companies of their choice).

  13. Forget that, Scripps should be donated to Goodwill Industries so the people there can rehab it and re-sell it for the good of all. Scripps hires too many "Visionary's" in key management roles. These folks think they can make the ultimate digital platform staffed by only semi-brite, part-time college kids with no street smarts or journalistic chops. "What do people on twitter think about the rain?" "Here is a viewer(shaky, out of focus, wrong aspect ratio) flooded street in (can't pronounce the community name) Casa De Oro"........ Just as bad was the rudderless CW6 and the "This is a Sand Bag" segment. "These sand bags are filled with ssssand".

  14. Well, I can't say I didn't nail one prediction in 2016. I said Duane Polman wasn't going to get the 6 and 11pm anchor spot at WCMH. I was right. It's going to be Mike Jackson with Current Weekend Sports Anchor Matt Barns taking over The Morning Show. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/life_and_entertainment/2016/01/05/0105-mike-jackson-channel-4.html

  15. Ridiculous. And Scripps wonders why a majority of their stations are 3rd or 4th in their markets. Downtown SD less than 2 inches. Outlying areas vary from a quarter of an inch to about 4 inches. Either way, yes it is more rain than normal but these are a series of 3 storms that have struck the area since Sunday. We still have about another day of rain left. L.A. is getting the brunt of the rain/storm.
