1. Not sure I am a fan of the cities in boxes, and not on a map -- there appears to be no arrangement (alphabetical, or geographical) on some displays. I get it is new, and clearly there is a learning curve both on use and presentation, and the graphics themselves are certainly sharp.

 2. And I haven't heard anything from WUSA here in DC...

 3. New weather graphics on NBC 10. Looks a lot like the west coast O&Os' Microclimate forecasts. A weather ticker now appears at the bottom of the screen. Also the weather's being done from a new 4 panel touchscreen setup.

 4. I hope so. I miss Linda filling-in at 6. I also miss her occasional fill-ins at 10 so I hope that resumes as well. To me, it doesn't get any better than seeing Ron, Linda, Jerry, and Mark together. So good, so Chicago.

 5. Ain't that the pot calling the kettle black. You often post things as "first on the blog" that have been posted elsewhere.

 6. You would think they would be doing better after separating from Gannett....

 7. Perhaps they're going back to the old system where the first two hours (with different hosts) are more newsy while the rest is more fluffy?

 8. But the anchors need those breaks to take their naps...and drink their juice boxes. Some use that time to make little finger paintings that the nice weather lady shows later on tv.

 9. Your second paragraph says it all. You're not first if you're quoting someone else!!! And I believe there has been an instance where you reported something after another one of those websites reported it, but still classified it as "first".

 10. It's syndication not doing well; Hearst is finally sick of NBCU bungling their talk shows and ABC throwing away the old General Hospital slot and leaving them to program talk shows that last a season. Next year's offering in place of Meredith by NBCU is Harry Connick Jr., which only seems to have the safest ad buyers excited and not actual people. With Netflix, sitcoms that used to be anticipated in syndication are getting shrugged off (witness the major downgrades to Modern Family's timeslots this year as the show hits its older drafting stage), so better to replace those shows with newscasts than low-rated shows.

 11. With the sad state of broadcasting, where tenure and civility means nothing, this might be the best headline of the day...

 12. I was just reading up on Ron's career today... Go figure! Alan is very much deserving of this promotion. Whoever gets the 4 have big shoes to fill.

 13. WPVI shows a daily planner on the side bar during the morning forecasts. I've heard David and Karen both refer to it as the "always-on day planner." I don't see why this is so ... revolutionary? Yeah, it's neat, especially the partnership with WU, but WPVI has been showing temps in regions / specific towns for ... years? Especially in the morning and the 5:20ish forecast. They zoom in to Philly proper, the Lehigh Valley, Jersey, Delaware and show temps. They also show forecasts everyday for Philly, Allentown, and Atlantic City. And, WFMZ does the same. They zoom in on Lehigh & Northampton Counties and show temps in various places. I don't watch NBC10 ... do they not do this??

 14. Also what's going on with Hearst stations adding newscasts? KOCO has added a 9am and 9pm Newscasts, KMBC will be adding a 4pm Newscast and lengthening their 9pm Newscast on KCWE to 60 minutes, KCCI, KETV, among others are the recent 9pm News on Me TV additions. I wouldn't be surprised if more Hearst stations add additional newscasts as for me we might be seeing a 3rd OKC station with a 4pm Newscast (KOCO) because of all of the newscast expanding the Hearst stations (lately) have been doing.

 15. Even though I think this "Neighborhood Weather" idea has never been great, I actually like that idea and I'm glad that WCAU has it. Now, if only my NBC O&O WTVJ had that because WTVJ's weather presentation doesn't have any of that. No weather ticker with 7-day forecast at the bottom or on the left side (like KNBC), no neighborhood or zone-by-zone forecasts, none of that. It makes WTVJ's weather presentation, pretty boring and normal just like my favorite station, WSVN.

 16. They've already hit WXIA, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that WXIA's weekend anchor Keith Whitney(1993), educational reporter Donna Lowry(1986) and reporter Kevin Rowson(1994) are taking Tegna buyouts. It also stated that four photographers at the station are also taking buyouts. Also note that Business/Consumer Editor/Help Desk Reporter Bill Liss was also eligible but Declined and will Continue to work for 11Alive for atleast to near future. Jon Shriek(1979), Jerry Carnes(1986), Brenda Wood(1997), Chris Holcomb(1990), Jaye Watson(1999), Valerie Hoff (1999) and Jennifer Leslie (1998) were not offered but were eligible for the Buyout

 18. At 4pm, perhaps Rob Elgas? Also, will Alan continue at 6? Seems like they should have went with Alan & Kathy at 6 & 10, Hosea & Cheryl at 5 & 7, and Rob & Linda at 4.

 19. seriously?! this is a stupid change the weekend team just stepped onto the rug and just got the rug pulled out from under them, hell why isn't Suki and Kori being the ones fired, I would have gone with youth in the am, Kirstin Cole and a young male anchor, i would fire Tamsen, i would give Kaity and Brenda an hour at 6 pm hire a new female for 5 pm and contribute reports to the later newscasts, Kaity will be rightfully restored to the 10 pm show and Brenda is the contributing anchor at 10. i would keep sports the way they are

 22. nynewslover knew that Kala and Craig were gonna anchor the first part. He was asking what the linked article meant by a "revamped lead-in". Nothing to do with the anchor pairings!

 23. My post was more of an answer as nynewslover's question of what was meant by a "revamped lead in"? What I was saying is the first part with the first set of anchors might be more newsy while the second part with the second set of anchors might be more fluffy.

 25. http://www.ftvlive.com/ftvlivegmailcom/2016/3/30/breaking-pittsburgh-anchor-is-fired-for-facebook-post Wendy Bell Fired at WTAE/Pittsburgh Look she has a family not a fan of what she did, but I remember she was the rising star and other sites bashed her, because Michelle Wright & Sally Wiggin was pushed back for Wendy. Hopefully, she'll get another gig, and stations/on-air talent have to make sure what's right to place on social media.
