  1. Looks like some other stations are also preparing for the "Gannettegna" website. KBMT is not yet ready. (Taken from : http://content.tegna-media.com/theme/images/****/[email protected] ) Note : Change the asterisk with the station's call letters. Guess what, KXVA and KIDY will have a separate website. And KXVA will have a new brand on August 2nd. [spoiler=KXVA]

  2. The closest thing now is the occasional Sunday 4pm newscast after noon Bears games, which takes a backseat to postgame coverage.

  3. I mean, I've been here for the discussion (you were the one who brought it up, I distinctly remember), but I'm still calling it Gannettegna-ized based simply on the USAT colors, until if/when the UX change becomes more than theorized conjecture, and my weather is not broadcast with a yellow stripe.

  4. Yeah, they have made cuts in the years past, but the station has just rehired former morning drive personality Frank Ski, former slow jams show host Joyce Littel, and former WHTA afternoon jock Emperor Sercy. All of those people have been added to the staff in the past 12 months alone. The station carries the entire Atlanta radio station cluster alone on its revenue. DC urban sister station WPGC carries its radio cluster in a similar fashion as WVEE with revenue. I remember reading that back when it was posted earlier this year. Les will have a major battle on his hands that he might not realize with the Redstones over the radio division.

  5. New here and I cannot agree more that Kaity has "anchored" Ch.11 in more ways than one throughout the decades. Hiring Brenda shows how that channel honors true NY anchors but I wish they'd carry that philosophy over to the morning show. I love how Ch. 11 also covers the other burroughs better than other channels! All these changes make it hard for the audience to feel connected to our anchors! The same can also be said about WNBC...I sadly have no idea who those people are anymore and I grew up watching Live at 5 and all their broadcasts thereafter.

  6. I believe this is the second time KPIX sends one of theirs to The Talk. As far as LA not being included, supposedly they were running a contest at the O&O stations where they would fly 2 viewers to see the taping of the show. So i'm assuming they ended up picking 2 winners from each of the cities represented above. So, made no sense including LA when the winners could easily drive to the studio.

  8. Actually, within a year the websites are being overhauled. Tegna uses a different CDN than Gannett used (Presto). While Tegna kept the look, there are some notable UX differences between the two. Note the way that pages present. Anyway, an overhaul here coming soon.

  12. Makes sense. Gannett has made it pretty clear that they want to be their own entity, so why should TEGNA continue to use the USA Today colors? I no longer work for the company, but I hope the TANK is developing something new for the stations.

  13. WKYC has taken some serious liberty in it's use of their graphics/opens and music over the last several months. Here's a promo sample that uses the same music as the intro and most bumpers. The supers and headline bar remain the same, but there's some leeway in other things, especially in the teasers. And at the very end of the newscast, they ditched the TEGNA logo and replaced it with a generic copyright "©2016 WKYC-TV INC" I doubt they're up for sale or going to be up for sale any time soon, but this is the furthesy yet I've seen a TEGNA station stray from their presentarion.

  14. Apparently John Oliver's most recent episode Last Week Tonight has not aired in the UK on Sky Atlantic because of the following segment on the Brexit. Sky Atlantic is reporting that they are not airing the show until after the European Union Referendum because it breaches OfCom rules. Rules in the UK are apparently very strict where shows have to give equal precedence to both sides. The segment in question was fifteen minutes long and was encouraging them to stay in the EU. Some people on Twitter are speculating it has to do with the fact that Rupert Murdoch is the majority shareholder (at (39.14% through 21st Century Fox) in Sky and that his son, James Murdoch, who is the chairman of the board are both assumed to be in the "leave camp". One of Murdoch's News Corp papers, The Sun, is saying that the UK should Leave the EU while The Times is in the remain camp.

  16. I am not a regular NBC10 viewer - it's not that I do not like their news product - they just aren't one of my "go to" stations. That being said - KUDOS to all NBC10 reporters and especially Jim Rosenfield for their live coverage of Congressman Fattah's conviction this afternoon. Understanding the delicate line the station has had to walk because of their former anchor's connection to the story makes their professionalism stand out even more. Congrats on providing good, solid journalism especially in a market where another station can't even find the story if they "eyewitness" it themselves.
