  1. Yeah, saw that on Friday. Greg is ehh. Too vanilla, even more so than Jason. They should have gone outside and filled the position. The AM newscast has been getting stale for years, and they went with the safe, stale choice. Not sure if that's going to help them out in the long-run. Not saying Greg isn't qualified, but they needed to inject a bit of personality/life into the show.

  2. Changes in the sports department at KTVT CBS 11. Keith Russell who was hired to replace Babe Laufenberg last year is moved to weekends, while Bill Jones moved to weekdays at six and ten on an interim basis. Now KTVT not only looking for a new chief meteorologist in their weather department, they're now looking for a new sports director/anchor. I could be wrong though. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/f6f363e9bf46045b88d362ebd34a9d86-3715.html

  3. Hmm not sure I follow. Matt and Savannah carry themselves and are marketed in pretty much the same way Katie and Matt were. Robin and George are marketed the same way Charlie and Diane were. The anchors aren't the problem and the way they carry themselves aren't the problem. These morning shows for so long have thrived in large part because of the popularity of the anchors. In fact remove Robin or Matt from their shows and you will for sure see audience erosion. Anchor exposure is not the issue. Remove Charlie or Norah and watch that their growth begins to slow as well. Betrayal and insecurity in this business is nothing new and has existed since the start of Hollywood and TV. While I am really happy for CTM, let's keep in mind that their growth is coming during a very busy news cycle. It's expected that a morning news program focused around news would do exceptionally well during a year long heavy news cycle. They still trail NBC by more than 600,000-800,000 viewers. I say this to make the point that while I think CTM has a really great thing going for them, the other two shouldn't be so quick to replicate that for success just yet.

  4. WKYC also has a good creative team...their work was WORLDS better than the garbage Gannett introduced in 2008. I don't blame them for leading the way if it's working for them. They were also unscathed in the buyouts that swept throughout the entire company.

  5. "Digital Operations Center" had a nice ring to it. "Breaking News Center" just sounds too simplistic and generic. It's disappointing that they changed the former, but that's just my opinion. I watched a little bit of the news this morning and I have mixed feelings of Look N. While it looks more polished than the old graphics, there are some aesthetics that I don't really like, such as the slanted/italicized text and the font. Hope there's more tweaks to come.

  6. Like you could do anything with that visual stimulation without the help of a blue pill.

  7. Well it starts at the top. How is the ND still is employed when the station's newscasts are not able to win at least 1 timeslot? If this was any other place, that ND would have been canned long ago. And they can't blame NBC programming, since it has improved quite considerably these last few years...

  8. An overhaul. Not a facelift. They are distinct. The newspaper division choose the branding for themselves and the stations. Now that the stations are their own entity, they'll go in a different direction.

  10. It seems they are going in house. I just saw a promo featuring Greg Bledsoe and Marianne Kushi for News Today.

  11. Are you sure about that? You've said that the Fox O&Os was going to use a brand new music package last year, and that never happened.

  12. I actually thought the original TVbD/1998 Circle 7 looked pretty good in the original set. My personal favorite, though, is the one that they used from 1993 to 95.

  13. Easy to tell apart. One looks good, the other one is an ill-conceived, crappy knock-off, and of course I'm not talking about the men behind the profiles.

  14. Sorry to bump an old thread, but Wiley is indeed headed to NECN/NBC Boston. http://talkintv.buffalonews.com/2016/06/22/ch-7s-wiley-headed-boston-cable-channel/
