  1. I do like Bryant Gumbel (and it's Gumbel, not Gumble), but let's not act like he was completely above the fray and above any intra-show squabbles. Just search 'Bryant Gumbel memo' and you'll see what I am referring to. I mean, I love revisionist history as much as the next guy but I love how some here are acting like some of this internal stuff and "big egos" is something new with the edition of the program than it was in prior editions of Today or other news shows in general. There have been big egos in television and television news as long as both have been around, this is nothing new.

  2. WGN dropping the CW was the biggest mistake that station has ever made. The only money there going to make is with some news that is 7 to 10am. WBBM is going to stay on there butt at 11 as long as Lets Make a Deal is on at 9 and The Price is Right is on at 11 I dont care who is anchoring. WMAQ is starting a 4pm newscast that will scatter WLS and WGNs 4pm ratings even more so good luck with that. Primetime ratings the days with no sports hell probably wont even beat WCIU and WFLD is getting closer to the key money demo with WGN 25-54 so yeah WGN has weekend morning news and 7-10 on weekdays. Good Luck with that

  3. In case you don't want to dig: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154463044018987 It's bland. It's generic. It's a font with network logos. But anything is an improvement over their old logo circa 2010. For some reason, the old logo just kept reminding me of the old graphics with the rundown on the side. In addition, I almost want to say it looks like they either have a new set or have had a refresh lately.

  4. An open from WAFF's 48 The News era? Whoa! Finally! And there's a new channel of DFW clips including lots of rarities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsswI3VG6eQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPhja06-D5U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtvOOt_phEY

  6. Amen to the above posts. I, too, grew up on Charlie, Diane, Robin, and Tony.

  7. I've always been indifferent about Lauer, and I don't want to come across as defending him, but he's merely the tip of the iceberg. Just like a professional sports team with undisciplined troublemakers, there is clearly a systemic problem within the ranks of the Today show that allow for such behavior and idiocy. Like sports, the more an on-air talent makes or the higher their profile is, the more they're allowed to get away with. Throw in the fact that NBC (News) has a horrific track record with handling personnel management on and off the air (Brian, Ann, Matt, Natalie, David, and before that Bryant, Katie, Jane, Deborah...pretty much everyone but Meredith), and it's a recipe for disaster.

  8. Reminds me of WNCN's rebranding since they became a CBS affiliate. I would have rather seen them keep the WNCN branding or revert to "CBS17 News". "CBS North Carolina" sounds horrible.

  9. I might add... Neither Bryant, nor Jane, nor Deborah or Katie EVER let any of that silly/stupid stuff happen when they were hosting. when she filled in once for Bryant, Faith Daniels(the newsreader) had that same attitude as Bryant or Deborah or Katie: she never let any of that stupid stuff get in the way of the interviews or reporting the news. In fact i think Arthur Kent was co-hosting that week, he had that kind of attitude too. Hugh Downs or Frank McGee, back in the day had that same kind of attitude towards the show. On GMA, David Hartman was doing the same thing and he didn't tolerate it either! I wish that ABC would tell them not to do that on GMA.
